Exclusive Interviews | Luisa Lalli, General Manager, OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI
Editor: Tell us about your journey. How did it all start?
At the mere age of 19, I began my exciting hospitality journey in London. By 23, I moved up my way to the role of a reception manager at Hilton park lane. This was followed by my placement in the Maldives, Colombo, Borneo, and then back to the archipelago destination. My tryst with Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts kicked it started with a dual operation – being the General Manager at OBLU Helengeli and the resort manager for OZEN LIFE MAADHOO. For the past 15 months, it’s been a delight to serve as the General Manager of OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI, home to Maldives one of the luxurious and finest all-inclusive resorts.
Editor: What do you think it takes to succeed in this industry?
For me, a blend of attributes like passion, drive, a clear understanding of guests’ needs, and providing personalized services is what it takes to make your guest satisfied. This consumer satisfaction will eventually lead to the success of the resort and yourself.
Editor: What are the attributes you look for while selecting or hiring? If someone wants to work with you, what should they do?
Speaking from my personal experience, qualities like having the right attitude, an understanding of guests’ needs, and someone who is empathetic towards the guests, staff, and the property – all alike!
Editor: What advice would you give to a young woman planning a career in hospitality?
Always have a clear goal in mind and never give up. Consistency is the key!
Editor: What can we as an industry do, to encourage more women in hospitality?
First things first are that I see a positive growth towards women empowerment in the hospitality industry, to quote the 2 female general managers under The OZEN COLLECTION – Henar Gil Ros, General Manager, OZEN LIFE MAADHOO, and myself as the General Manager of OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI.
To encourage more women in hospitality, we as an industry can share more women-centric stories, coach and motivate young women and nurture them for leadership roles in the future.
Editor: What is it about the Maldives that makes it such a popular destination? For guests and hospitality talent from across the world?
Unique paradise, barefoot luxury, personalized services, and experiences are what make our beautiful blue destination currently the most sought-after destination in the world!
