Sarovar Hotels appoints Manoj Soni as the new chief technology officer

Sarovar Hotels has announced the appointment of Manoj Soni as its new chief technology officer. He will be based at the Sarovar corporate office in Gurugram.

Soni has more than 25 years of experience as technology leader for hospitality and media companies. In his new role he will be responsible for the company's digital transformation, overseeing IT operations, integrating new technology, cyber security and risk management.

Before becoming part of Sarovar Hotels, Soni has worked with Oberoi Hotels for more than two decades as head of information technology for various properties of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts. He was responsible for various IT projects at Oberoi Hotels and took several Initiatives like setting up of the IT Data Centre for pre-opening domestic and international Oberoi and Trident Hotels, forming an Internal Competency Team to reduce dependencies on PMS/POS vendors and consolidation of multi property data centres.

Prior to Oberoi Hotels, he was working as the IT head for a publication group. Soni holds an MBA degree in Information and Technology.

In his 10 years of journey at the Holiday Inn, he held positions of Assistant F&B manager, Future Leader of IHG Accelerate program, Outlet Operations Manager, Restaurant Manager and F&B Supervisor. Being part of the restaurant management team, he played a key role in developing the hotel's revenue plan, marketing strategy and finances. Though he says the real fun was to learn the trade at India’s first Japanese restaurant Sakura, he then went on to join Olive Group as a core team member and initiated various stand alone for the group. After a short stint at Australia’s modern Gourmet city, Sydney, ai called him back home, which was Olive’s first Zuma kind of project in Delhi.

Hailing from Delhi Chef Khatri acquired his Bachelor in Hotel Management (B.H.M) from S.Nijalingappa College, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore, in 1999 and later went on to undergo 6 months training at the renowned restaurant ‘Ocean room’ in Sydney, Australia, where he attained Global exposure in Oriental gourmet cuisine. CAM RANH, Vietnam – Alma Resort has elevated seasoned professionals Vu Thi Huong Giang and Rowie Villacencio to the highest realm of its management structure.

Giang and Rowie have stepped up as resort manager and director of administration respectively at the 30-hectare resort overlooking Long Beach on Vietnam’s Cam Ranh peninsula.

Born and bred in nearby Nha Trang, Giang graduated from Nha Trang University with a major in food processing and started her career in 2004 as a waitress at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, where she steadily climbed the career ladder over a decade to become a food and beverage manager. She has also worked for Vinpearl Land and Mia Resort in Nha Trang, and was the food and beverage director at The Anam and then Alma. She was promoted to executive assistant manager of F&B last year.

In her new role, the resort’s executive chef, executive assistant manager of rooms, assistant director of F&B and the recreation manager report to her.

After Filipino national Rowie earned her undergraduate degree in accountancy and MBA at University of San Carlos in Cebu City, she started her hospitality career in 1999 as a service associate at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa and rose through the ranks to become the property’s director of human resources. She was also director of HR at Movenpick Resort & Spa Boracay and later Alma.

In her role as director of administration, she will oversee the HR and finance departments.

He completed his hotel management from Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (1992-95 batch). To gain higher educational assets for his career, he did his Diploma in Marketing Management from L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai. He also completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Mumbai University.

A true ‘Mumbaikar’ at heart, Bhagwan was born and raised in the Mumbai. A fitness freak, he is passionate about sports and fitness. He is Marathoner and participates in almost every marathon. Being a nature lover, he ensures to go for long drive in hilly terrain. In his leisure time Bhagwan prefers to relax by the beach or spend quality time with his family.

In her last stint, she was heading communications for the iconic dual property. In 2019, Urvashi made a shift from Communications to Learning & Development. She is also a certified trainer from Indian Society of Training & Development (approved by Ministry of HRD) and London Image Institute, London.

Anoop Joseph named DOSM for Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah in Oman

Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah, Oman has appointed Anoop Joseph as its director of sales and marketing. He will head up both departments as he focuses on driving top-line revenue at the property.

Joseph has been in hospitality for more than 15 years, working as a senior sales account manager for The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in Bangalore in 2006. In 2009 he moved to Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre as sales manager from 2011 to 2012.

He later started with IHG, first as director of sales for Crowne Plaza Kochi and then at Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah. Before returning to the resort again this year, he was multi-property DOSM for Marriott in Kochi.

Rahul is no stranger to the hospitality industry.  He is an industry veteran, with a rich and diverse sales experience spanning 17 years which covers five major markets working with acclaimed hotel chains like ITC and Taj. Prior to joining Bengaluru Marriott Whitefield Hotel, Rahul headed the sales and marketing at the Vivanta Bengaluru Whitefield.

Chef Rohit Joshi recently took over as the Executive Chef at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield. With 15+ years of rich experience in the field of food and beverage, Chef Rohit has been perfecting and excelling in the culinary field since 2006. He completed his graduation from Metropolitan Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Pune. 

He will lead the culinary team and will be responsible for pricing, cost planning, budget analysis and the curation of innovative menus across all the four restaurants at the Bengaluru Marriott Whitefield Hotel.

Chef Fernandes is passionate about honing his techniques and skills while being a service-driven chef who utilizes his experience and expertise to promote operational excellence. Chef Fernandes graduated with a degree in Tourism and Hotel Management from Madurai Kamraj University, and is armed with a Diploma in Chef Management from the Academy of Culinary Education (ACE) in Goa.

 

The spirited Chef spent a year as the Chef de Cuisine of Banquets and Events where he oversaw kitchen operations in commercial and private kitchens in 2017 before moving into his role as the Executive Chef at The St. Regis Mumbai .
