As we step into the financial year of 2024 we have already witnessed some crazy shifts happening in the hospitality industry by which we can make an assumption that 2024 will be a rock breaking year for the Industry. In this article let's explore a few areas that are making a bigger impact in the industry and changing the way hospitality Landscapes have been changing as the months pass by.

Empowering the Hospitality Workforce:

As per the report, the hospitality industry has witnessed a significant surge in employee compensation, resulting in an average projected increase of 9% or more. This marks a pivotal shift in the industry. This surge in the hospitality industry is not merely a financial adjustment but a strategic move to address the talent gap that emerged during the pandemic. With the hospitality industry gaining momentum globally, it has become crucial to retain experienced professionals. Now, it is more important than ever for hotel owners to invest in their teams to create a skilled and motivated workforce.

Moreover, this strategic approach resonates with the philosophy advocated by Mr. Prashant Mishra, CEO, and Founder of Retvens Services, a leading hotel revenue management company offering comprehensive hospitality management services. With Mr. Mishra's expertise in the field, hotel owners are guided towards optimizing their workforce and enhancing operational efficiency to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

ADR Growth and Global Expansion

Our recent findings reveal a projected growth of 4.9% in Average Daily Rate (ADR) over the next year, a significant development in the hospitality sector. Moreover, the global landscape is set to witness the opening of more than 2500 hotels by 2024, highlighting a period of robust

Moreover, these accommodations often prioritize sustainability, innovation, and community engagement, aligning with the evolving expectations of travelers and contributing to the overall sustainability and resilience of the industry. As a result, they are anticipated to play a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of hospitality, fostering creativity, and driving economic growth.

Wellness: A New Path Forward:

The global market for health and wellness is expected to grow significantly, reaching nearly seven trillion US Dollars. This indicates a notable shift in priorities, with health now taking precedence. As the pandemic has highlighted the importance of prioritizing health and wellness. Ingredient Ideology | Chicken Keema Fiesta By: Dr. Kaviraj Khialani- Celebrity Master Chef.

INTRODUCTION TO CHICKEN KEEMA:

Chicken keema is a flavorful and popular South Asian dish made from minced chicken cooked with aromatic spices, herbs, and sometimes vegetables. "Keema" refers to minced meat, and chicken keema is a variation that uses finely minced chicken instead of beef, lamb, or other meats commonly used in traditional keema recipes. This dish is versatile and can be prepared in various ways, depending on regional preferences and personal tastes. It can be served as a standalone dish, accompanied by rice or bread, such as naan or roti, or used as a filling for wraps, sandwiches, or stuffed vegetables. Chicken keema is loved for its rich flavor profile, combining the natural taste of chicken with the complex blend of spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. It is often cooked with onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, and sometimes green peas or potatoes, adding layers of texture and depth to the dish. Whether cooked dry or in a gravy, chicken keema is a satisfying and comforting meal enjoyed by many around the world. It is a perfect option for those looking for a delicious way to enjoy chicken in a new and exciting form.

ORIGIN

The origins of chicken keema can be traced back to the Indian subcontinent, where it is a popular dish in various regional cuisines. Keema itself has a long history in the Indian culinary tradition, with references dating back centuries. The word "keema" is derived from the Persian word for minced meat, indicating influences from Persian and Central Asian cuisines. The exact origin story of chicken keema is not well-documented, but it likely emerged as a variation of traditional keema recipes to accommodate preferences for poultry over red meat, especially in regions where chicken is more widely consumed. Over time, chicken keema has become a beloved dish enjoyed not only in India but also in other parts of South Asia and around the world, thanks to the global popularity of Indian cuisine.

Today, chicken keema is a staple in households, restaurants, and street food stalls across the Indian subcontinent and beyond, reflecting the diverse culinary heritage and evolving tastes of the region. Its versatility and delicious flavor have made it a favorite among both home cooks and professional chefs, contributing to its enduring popularity in the culinary landscape.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF CHICKEN KEEMA:

1. High-Quality Protein: Chicken is a rich source of high-quality protein, essential for muscle repair, growth, and overall body function. Including chicken keema in your diet can help meet your daily protein requirements.

2. Nutrient-Dense: Chicken keema can be packed with essential vitamins and minerals, depending on the ingredients used in its preparation. Onions, tomatoes, and spices like garlic, ginger, and turmeric add vitamins, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds to the dish.

3. Low in Calories: When prepared with lean chicken and minimal added fats, chicken keema can be a relatively low-calorie option compared to red meat-based keema dishes. This makes it suitable for individuals looking to manage their calorie intake or maintain a healthy weight.

4. Heart Health: Choosing lean cuts of chicken and limiting added fats can contribute to heart health by reducing saturated fat intake. Additionally, incorporating heart-healthy spices like turmeric, which contains curcumin, may have anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering effects.

5. Versatile Ingredients: Chicken keema recipes often include vegetables like onions, tomatoes, and peas, providing dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals essential for overall health and digestion.

6. Customizable: Chicken keema can be customized to suit individual dietary preferences and restrictions. It can be prepared with reduced sodium, limited added sugars, and tailored spice levels to accommodate various dietary needs.

7. Satiety: The combination of protein, healthy fats, and fiber in chicken keema can help promote feelings of fullness and satiety, potentially reducing overall calorie intake and aiding in weight management.

Hotels to see 9-11% Revenue Growth in FY25; third straight year in current upcycle: CareEdge Ratings Report

Room rates expected to rise to Rs 7,700 – Rs 7,900 in FY25

CareEdge Ratings estimates that in FY24, hotel industry will end at RevPAR growth of 12-14 per cent on the high base of FY23. The robust resurgence in demand, coupled with the gradual alignment of supply and demand of branded hotels room inventory, has been a noteworthy facet of the hospitality sector's post-pandemic trajectory.

The growth momentum in the hotel industry is expected to be sustained in FY25, resulting in likely y-o-y revenue growth by 9-11% backed by healthy domestic leisure and business travel and complemented by increasing foreign tourist arrivals, contributing to an improved credit profile for industry players. This will make it the third straight year of an upcycle. Pan-India, average room rates (ARRs) are expected to be around Rs 7,200 to Rs 7,400 in the current fiscal, which is likely to rise further to Rs 7,700 to Rs 7,900 in FY25. The hospitality sector's commendable recovery in occupancy rates and average rates has in turn cushioned its RevPAR, estimated to have climbed to an average range of Rs 4,800 to Rs 5,000 by the end of FY24 up from the 4,300-range registered in FY23 and is expected to grow by 9-11% in FY25 on the high base of FY24.

While supply of room inventory is expected to experience a delayed catch-up due to the protracted setup period for greenfield hotels, organized players are strategically expanding their footprint in an asset-light manner. Anticipated supply growth is estimated to range from 4% to 5% compounded annual growth rate over the next 4-5 years, adding over 50,000 rooms to the country's current inventory of approximately 160,000 branded rooms.

Presently, supply is more balanced across different segments, as compared to an earlier mix that was heavily weighted towards luxury and upper upscale hotels. Over the years the supply concentration in the luxury-upper upscale segment has reduced from 39% in FY15 to 32% in FY23 and is expected to reduce further to 26% by FY27 as the majority of new supply is coming in Upscale, Upper midscale and Midscale/Economy sections. This reduction in supply share is despite new rooms being added in all the segments; better balance has arisen due to material supply growth by rooms in upscale, upper midscale and midscale-economy segments. Several global/Indian hotel operators have also launched sub-brands with a clear focus on quality within key destinations which not only helps them in swiftly building a pool of quality inventory with presence across segments but also aids in better allocation of their capital.

“On the back of the surge in domestic demand and underlying GDP growth, the players in the industry are witnessing strong capacity utilization. With the sharp increase in capacity utilization combined with stable supply growth, hotels are seeing significant ability to yield the demand for branded hotels on an ongoing basis which shall support the strong ARR at current levels or drive some growth as well. While the material contribution from international travelers is yet to materialize, currently the domestic demand is the key driver. With the current travel momentum expected to continue and anticipated demand likely to outpace current supply, FY25 is likely to witness steady high occupancies in the range of 68-70% and continued RevPAR growth at 9-11% which shall aid in overall improvement of the credit profile of the players in the industry”, said Ravleen Sethi, Associate Director, CareEdge Ratings.

Kamat Hotels India Limited Leads Maharashtra's Green Revolution on Recycling Day

Celebrating Global Recycling Day with IRA By Orchid Nashik, Fort JadhavGadh, and The Orchid Hotel Pune. The three esteemed establishments in Maharashtra proudly unveiled their latest eco-friendly initiatives, showcasing a collective commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Maharashtra: At Kamat Hotels India (KHIL), Sustainability is more than just a buzzword - It’s a way of life. In a remarkable display of creativity and environmental responsibility, discarded plastic bottles and used coconut shells were transformed into stunning vases for plantation purposes to mark Global Recycling Day at IRA By Orchid Nashik. These thoughtful creations not only reduce waste but also serve as a striking addition to any green space.
Embarking on a transformative journey, Fort JadhavGadh has also been taking a multitude of eco-conscious initiatives. Here, plastic bottles find new life as charming bird feeders and elegant vases, while rubber tires provide quirky yet comfortable seating for employees. Vibrant wall murals spread messages of sustainability, and biryani pots have been transformed into bird water feeders, adding rustic charm to the surroundings. Creatively crafted hanging wall lamps illuminate spaces with warmth and style, all while promoting environmental consciousness.

And at The Orchid Hotel Pune, the team is focused on creating beneficial solutions for both the environment and its inhabitants. Ingeniously repurposing plastic bottles and used coconut shells into delightful bird feeders, the hotel provides nourishment for feathered friends while serving as a visual reminder of the importance of recycling and conservation.

“As we celebrate Global Recycling Day, let's unite in appreciation of the beauty of nature and the power of recycling. Through sustainable practices and innovative initiatives, we can pave the way for a brighter, greener future for all. Join us in spreading the message of sustainability and making a difference one recycled creation at a time,” said Ayon Bhattacharya, VP, West, KHIL.

Novotel unveils its new flagship hotel at Hamburg Central Station

Accor to open three hotels in Germany's second largest city this year

Accor, a world leading hospitality group, is adding to its presence in Germany with the opening of Novotel Hamburg Central Station. Set to open its doors to guests on 25th March 2024, the hotel features 227 rooms and suites, with a prime location next to the city’s main railway station and shopping street of Mönckebergstrasse. Strategically positioned for city explorers, families and business travellers alike, the hotel capitalises on its central location and excellent transportation links. The hotel’s public area features an open space concept, comprising the lobby, co-working spaces, relaxation zones, the MYSA Bar & Lounge, and the Swedish-inspired MYSA Eatery restaurant with Nordic-German influences. Additionally, the hotel offers five meeting and event rooms and a fitness centre.

Accor’s development ambitions for the second largest city in Germany

Accor has ambitious plans for 2024, with three hotels scheduled to open in Hamburg, offering a combined capacity of 793 rooms. Following the opening of Novotel Hamburg Central Station, Accor will welcome the ibis Styles HafenCity and Novotel Hamburg HafenCity to the group's portfolio in the second half of 2024. The ibis Styles HafenCity will intertwine affordability with the brand’s unapologetically fun and design-forward ethos, while the midscale Novotel Hamburg HafenCity will combine warm, modern design with thoughtful wellbeing and entertainment offerings for both business travellers and families. Including this latest opening, Accor currently operates 21 hotels in Hamburg.

Opening of the latest Novotel flagship in Hamburg

The hotel manager of the new Novotel Hamburg Central Station, Italian-born Daniele Ruiu, brings over two decades of Accor hotel management experience in both German and international destinations. Before starting his role in Hamburg, Mr. Ruiu successfully managed the Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 in Thailand.

Daniele Ruiu expresses his enthusiasm for his new challenge: “Hamburg is an extraordinary city that has retained its charm whilst embracing international influences. It is precisely this appealing mix that we want to convey to our guests when they arrive at the Novotel Hamburg Central Station.”

Erwin van der Graaf, Vice President Operations Managed Hotels Benelux & DACH at Accor, adds: “By founding the first Novotel in Lille more than 55 years ago, Accor laid the foundations for its success story. Today, Novotel offers destination hotels designed as comforting and energising places. We want our guests to ‘press pause’ and take time to enjoy the moments that really matter. This philosophy is perfectly reflected in our new Novotel Hamburg Central Station, our latest Novotel flagship in Hamburg and the region.”

Rooms and design

The exterior of the Novotel Hamburg Central Station showcases clean lines and typical Hamburg brickwork, while expansive floor-to-ceiling windows flood the hotel’s interior with natural light. The 227 guest rooms and suites, designed by the internationally acclaimed Sundukovy Sisters, feature amenities such as Nespresso coffee machines, smart TVs, and rain showers. Rituals, the renowned home & body brand from The Netherlands, provides the bath amenities.

Hotel facilities

The MYSA Eatery restaurant brings a fresh take on Nordic cuisine inspired by the Swedish way of life, always using the freshest regional ingredients for locals and hotel guests. The MYSA Bar & Lounge offers barista coffee, tea specialties, and creative cocktails for those seeking a coffee break or evening beverage.

Guests can catch up on some work or take a breather in the Play & Relax area and social hubs. The hotel’s 24-hour fitness center provides added convenience.
