Journey from the stunning shores of Atmosphere Kanifushi and VARU by Atmosphere  to vineyards in Stellenbosch through authentic wine interludes this August 2024

Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, an international hospitality brand within Atmosphere Core, presents a series of enriching winemaker experiences with Glenelly Estate at its two private islands Atmosphere Kanifushi and VARU by Atmosphere. 

The events will take place at Atmosphere Kanifushi from 25th to 27th August and at VARU by Atmosphere from 29th to 31st August 2024. In-house guests will be invited to sophisticated wine pairing dinners and lively beachside soirees, included within the generous Holiday Plans, Kanifushi Plan™ and VARU Plan™. Lia Poveda, Lady May’s closest confidant and in charge of Glenelly Estates’ presence across the globe will be visiting both islands to personally host these events.

Glenelly Estate is helmed by Lady May, today she is 99 years old and is the 6th generation of Bordeaux’s most prestigious lineage, but 25 years ago she became bored of Bordeaux and left to go all-in for Stellenbosch. This desire to disrupt the old while holding on to traditional savoir-faire are core identities shared by both Glenelly Estate and Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts”.

June 2024: Lallooji & Sons, in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism, have introduced an innovative tourism venture - 'Nadabet- Indo-Pak Border' located at the India-Pakistan Border Road in Nadabet, Gujarat. Andy Allen, winner of MasterChef Australia season four started as a sparky, but what really lit him up was getting creative in the kitchen and feeding whoever was home and hungry. Crowned champion in 2012, Andy used his success on the show as a springboard into incredible new challenges, including authoring his first cookbook, The Next Element, and commencing work as a cook at Sydney café, Three Blue Ducks. Andy threw everything he had at his new head chef role, going on to become a co-owner of the entire restaurant group. Not one to rest of his laurels, Andy got back into television, presenting Andy And Ben Eat Australia, Andy And Ben Eat The World, Farm To Fork and Three Blue Ducks. In 2020, Andy returned to the MasterChef Australia kitchen – this time as a judge. In 2022, he paired up with internationally renowned actor (and close mate), Travis Fimmel, to create the low-carb and mid-strength beer, Travla. Following the loss of fellow judge and close mate Jock Zonfrillo in 2023, Andy carries on his friend’s legacy in season 16 this year. More Indians are travelling than ever before: Mastercard Economics Institute on travel in 2024

  • The first three months of 2024 have registered 97 million passengers traveling through Indian airports for both international and domestic trips.

  • As of March 2024, domestic travel surged by 21% compared to 2019, while international travel experienced a 4% increase.

  • Indian travelers are increasingly exploring key markets, with a substantial 53% surge in visits to Japan, a 248% leap in visits to Vietnam, and a remarkable 59% rise in visits to the United States, compared to 2019.

  • Amsterdam, Singapore, and London are trending as the top three summer holiday destinations for Indian travelers in 2024.

 

India, May 2024 – The global travel sector is breaking boundaries in 2024 as consumer spending on tourism remains robust and passenger traffic soars, according to the latest report from the Mastercard Economics Institute (MEI). Released today, the MEI’s fifth annual report, “Travel Trends 2024: Breaking Boundaries” provides comprehensive insights into the evolving landscape of the travel industry across 74 markets, including 13 in the Asia Pacific region (APAC).

 

Drawing on a unique analysis of aggregated and anonymized Mastercard transaction data, including Mastercard SpendingPulse™ and third-party data sources, the report takes a deep dive into key tourism trends for 2024. Here in India, a few themes stand out, including:

 

More Indians are travelling than ever before

 

In 2024, fueled by a growing middle class and expanded route capacity, more Indians are traveling internationally than ever before. In the first three months of 2024, 97 million passengers travelled through Indian airports. Just 10 years ago, the same figure would have taken a whole year to achieve.

 

While domestic air passenger traffic surged 21% above 2019 levels, international travel rose by 4%. Notably, Indian travelers are increasingly exploring key markets, with a 53% increase in visits to Japan, a 248% growth to Vietnam, and a 59% rise in visits to the United States, compared to 2019, despite a stronger US dollar. This trend signifies a major shift in Indian travel habits towards widespread exploration and discovery.

 

According to the report, Amsterdam, followed by Singapore, London, Frankfurt, and Melbourne are the top five trending destinations that Indian travelers are visiting this summer (June – August 2024), as measured by the change in share of flight bookings.

 

“Consumers in the Asia Pacific region have an intense desire and willingness to travel and are becoming increasingly savvy to ensure they get the best value and unforgettable experiences from their trips,” said David Mann, chief economist, Asia Pacific, Mastercard. “For tourism authorities, retailers, the hospitality and F&B sectors, the bottom line is that costs matter. In today’s economy, foreign exchange rates and spending power have become vital components in driving a traveler’s assessment of value when they are making their plans. This suggests that businesses targeting tourism dollars need to review their current strategies, and shift them, if necessary, to maintain their appeal to travelers.”

 

Travelers continue to prioritize experiences over things

Consumers globally continue to prioritize experiences over material goods. This is playing out in the travel sector as spending on experiences, especially nightlife, totals 12% of tourism sales – the highest point in at least five years. Additionally, a burgeoning fine dining scene in India has translated to marginal outperformance of the fine dining category for in-destination tourism dining. As of March 2024, spending on casual dining rose by 49.2%, while fine dining saw a 55.2% increase compared to the previous year.

From the Peruvian-Japanese fusion of Nikkei cuisine to time-honoured culinary traditions of Mexico, the emphasis at Zoco is all about sharing, with plates crafted to encourage connection.

Zoco joins the star-studded collection of existing dining venues spread across V Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton including Level Seven, V Lounge and V Deck.

On arrival at the seventh-floor restaurant, guests are greeted by breath-taking views of Dubai’s skyline and a bustling open-kitchen. Gentle natural woods, lashings of vibrant colours and kaleidoscopic portraits entice, with Latin house vibes from the DJ booth setting the tempo of the evening from Tuesday to Saturday each week. 

Perfect for an intimate dinner or a group outing, guests can begin their culinary adventure around Pan America with a host of starters, from freshly made guacamole and tune tartare to zingy citrus ceviche and soft-shell crab; or a selection of hot plates including beef short ribs, fluffy bao, crispy calamari and chicken teriyaki skewers.

For mains, diners can choose from a plethora of authentic dishes including Mexican style tacos loaded with chicken adobo, Peruvian chifa duck fried rice and sticky beef with udon; or go for gold with the ‘Black Onyx’, a black angus rib-eye with confit garlic and grilled vine tomatoes that’s perfect for sharing. Desserts are just as enticing with an elevated ‘Quatro Leches’ cake, churros, cheesecake and a selection of sorbets to ensure the experience ends on a sweet finish.  

Cocktail connoisseurs have a superb beverage programme from which to sample. Signature cocktails crafted using Pan American spirits include Espuma De Mezcal, Empresa Cubana and Cilantro Paloma, or there are pitchers of Sangria and Margarita for those who wish to share. 

There’s plenty of promotions to look forward to with a daily Happy Hour from 5pm to 7pm, inviting guests to enjoy selected house beverages and cocktails from AED 35 and a 25 per cent discount on dining. Fridays are all about the ladies with Salsa Y Señoritas.
