The key metrics for check in today are speed of check in or average time taken, pre arrival preparedness, more personalisation, recognition and small factors for a Wow experience, flexibility while decision making or while faced with unique questions/ situations.

More focus is given on pre arrival procedures so the check in process can be quick. In the current scenario guest has multiple options and they look for ease of check in, time taken in it. Over a period of time, standard check in time has shrunk from 4-5 minutes to barely 1-2 minutes today. More time is expectedly invested in the pre arrival phase like checking if the id is already on file for a repeat guest, pre allocation of rooms as per preferences etc.

New tech is going to make arrival experience way different than today. Card-less and contactless check ins, without any face to face interaction with usual Front Desk will soon be a basic expected from all hotels. While technology will make check in experience an automated affair, hence saving time for many. 

However, the importance of personal connect will always be paramount and traditional check in experience will continue to be around us due to peculiar expectation of customer service.

Each guest is different and of different age groups, the human touch shall coexist in the coming years. Service and human contact with a personal touch will continue to be an important aspect of the hospitality world.

Based on historical data, room allocation are done only as per guest’s preference, special gestures are extended such as our random acts of generosity, ex: toys for kids if travelling with family, customised amenity, pillow art, etc etc.
