SaffronStays has appointed Vinay Chandavarkar as its Chief Development Officer. Born and raised in Mumbai, Vinay completed his post-graduation from ESSEC Business School, Paris where he majored in Hospitality Real Estate, and Development.

With 16+ years of experience in the hospitality segment, Vinay was earlier associated with The Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Group of Hotels) as Corporate Director - Development and Hilton Hotels as Director, Development - India. His primary role at both these organizations was to expand the brand’s portfolios, a responsibility that he shall continue with at SaffronStays - securing and sealing well-appointed luxurious homes and villas.

Appointment | Nihat Yucel joins Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano as GM

Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano has appointed Nihat Yucel as general manager. He has 22 years of experience with Four Seasons and holds a master’s degree in tourism from Istanbul University and a post-graduate degree from Florida International University.

Yucel started working with Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul in 1999 in the food and beverage department.

Then in 2007, he became F&B director on the pre-opening team for the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus. Three years later he switched to director of rooms.  After two years, he was promoted to hotel manager overseeing both departments.

Yucel them moved to Four Seasons Resort Seychelles in 2014 as resort manager before returning as hotel manager at both Four Seasons on the Bosphorus and at Sultanahmet.

Speaking about his career, he said: “I like the time to connect with people.” 

Outside of the hotel world, he’s a big football fan and follows Galatassaray in Turkey. He also played football professionally in the second division of the Turkish football league.  

Four Seasons said he is a wonderful man, a compassionate leader and dedicated toelevated guest service and employee care and wellbeing.  

Appointment | Souffian Zaeraoui appointed cluster GM for three Accor hotels in Dubai

Souffian Zaeraoui is the new cluster general manager for Novotel, Ibis and Adagio Al Barsha hotels. The Accor properties have 1,144 between them.

Zaeraoui has worked for Accor for 14 years, previously serving as hotel D]director for the same cluster until 2018.

A French-Moroccan national, Zaeraoui brings a wealth of experience to the role and will oversee the upcoming transformation of the newly designed Ibis guest rooms for Ibis Al Barsha. The property is the first Ibis hotel in the UAE to roll out the modern designs.

He said: “I couldn’t be happier to be moving back to the Al Barsha cluster, especially in this landmark year of Expo 2020 and the UAE Golden Jubilee. I’m thrilled that I can use all my experience at such an exciting time to take these iconic hotels to greater heights and achieve the desired success with the team.”

He moves from Novotel & Adagio Abu Dhabi Al Bustan and he holds an MBA in International Hospitality Management, IMHI from ESSEC Business School in Paris.

Zaeraoui began his career in France with Marriott and Sofitel Hotels in Paris, before heading up F&B at Novotel Cardiff Centre Wales.

He was the opening operations manager at Pullman Gurgaon Central Park in India before moving to Al Barsha the first time.

A hospitality professional who has been associated with Accor for over six years and started her journey as the associate director of sales for Novotel Goa Resort, Sheryl De Sa will take over the reins of ibis Pune Hinjewadi as its general manager.

With two decades of experience in various roles, Sheryl will lead the hotel’s overall management and operations in this role. Sheryl has also worked across key properties of Accor Group including Novotel Goa and ibis Styles Goa Calangute.

De Sa is the fourth female GM in the ibis India network. “I am excited about this new opportunity. I believe that organisations with a significant representation of women on board regularly outperform those with more homogenous leadership.”

De Sa has also played an instrumental part in setting up and positioning the first ibis Styles hotel in India – ‘ibis Styles Goa Calangute’, as its director of sales and marketing for the property and went on to become the director of rooms.

Coco Collection has appointed Maurice Van Den Bosch as general manager of Coco Bodu Hithi, Maldives. The Australian-Dutch citizen brings in over twenty years of experience in hotel management.

Maurice most recently led the pre-opening team at Le Meridian Maldives Resort & Spa. His experience in managing resorts in the Maldives began in 2017 as resort manager of Ozen by Atmosphere. He later joined Atmosphere Kanifushi as general manager, before being promoted to vice president of operations for Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts in 2019. Back home in Australia, Maurice also worked in food & beverage management and event management in multiple hotels including Novotel Pacific Bay Resort and Ayers Rock Resort.

Drawing upon the unique selling points of Coco Bodu Hithi, Maurice will be focusing on elevating the guest experience and streamlining resort operations in the wake of these challenging times.

Hardip Marwah joins Andaz Delhi as General Manager

Andaz Delhi appointed Hardip Marwah as their new General Manager. He is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry with experience of over two decades. His leadership skills, experience with diverse brands, and evolving understanding of the industry will help him focus on reimagining the experiences which Andaz Delhi offers.

“Having worked across countries and with both the Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency brands, it is most exciting to now lead and guide the Andaz brand’s cornerstone hotel in India, Andaz Delhi. I hope to be able to harness my understanding and expertise of working in the hospitality industry across India and UAE and take this hotel and brand to new heights,” said Hardip Marwah, General Manager, Andaz Delhi.

Marwah holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Mumbai University and an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Australia. He began his career with Leela Kempinski in Mumbai and commenced his journey with Hyatt Hotels Corporation in 2005 in various key roles. He was previously the General Manager at Hyatt Regency Mumbai.

After an outstanding career trajectory with over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Julien joins Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Nashik as Hotel Manager. 

Hailed for his business acumen, people-oriented management style and attention to detail, Julien holds a remarkable track record of successfully opening and transforming several luxury hotels and concept driven restaurants in India. From his very first stint as an apprentice with the Taj Group of Hotels to propelling the operations of Asia’s biggest and India’s most iconic nightclub - Fire N’ Ice, he had garnered a strong foothold in the hospitality industry at a very young age and concurrently became extremely prominent in the social circuit of Mumbai. 

Since then and throughout his career Julien has occupied senior roles in award-winning hotels such as JW Marriott Juhu, Mumbai and Grand Hyatt Mumbai where he played a vital role in launching two of its exceptionally popular and iconic restaurants - Celini and the China House, both being game changers in India’s ever flourishing food and beverage scene. He has also been part of the pre-opening team at Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad, and at Park Hyatt Chennai – a luxury brand of the Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, he was privileged to receive the Condé Nast Traveller award for The Flying Elephant, one of India’s most theatrical and eclectic food and beverage spaces.

A creative, friendly, and passionate hospitality professional, Julien now joins Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Nashik as the Hotel Manager, bringing his vision for progressive F&B concepts and cultivating a culture of genuine care and sincere service to cement the hotel’s position as a premium destination for leisure, business, and social guests.

Appointment | Madhav Sehgal appointed as the General Manager of The Leela Palace Bengaluru

Madhav is an accomplished hotelier and brings with him over two decades of diverse hospitality experience having worked across markets like India, UAE, and Canada. His multi property operational experience, leadership skills and comprehensive understanding of the business are distinguishing facets of his career. With innovative and proactive strategic planning and strong interpersonal and people skills, he is focused on ensuring stellar standards of guest service which are synonymous to The Leela brand are benchmarked and maintained.

 

Prior to joining The Leela, Madhav was the General Manager at Andaz Delhi and Hyatt Delhi Residences. His previous assignments include The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, The Imperial Hotel New Delhi, Renaissance and Marriott Hotels in Canada, Fairmont Abu Dhabi and Hyatt Hotels in Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai amongst others. Through his career journey, Madhav has established, and pioneered trend setting standalone F&B venues and positioned these with strong independent brand identities.

Madhav’s academic qualifications include a 3-year Diploma in Hotel Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management Systems from Niagara College, Niagara Falls, Canada.
