IHCL ANNOUNCES A 350 KEY TAJ HOTEL IN INDORE, MADHYA PRADESH

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a Taj hotel in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The hotel is a Greenfield project and will be one of the largest convention facilities in Central India.

Hyatt Announces Robust Pipeline in India and Southwest Asia for 2024

Growth in brand footprint to over 55 hotels across leisure and business destinations in the region as brand portfolio expands with JdV by Hyatt as the ninth Hyatt brand in India.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced plans for the aggressive expansion of Hyatt’s brand portfolio in India and Southwest Asia region, with a robust pipeline of eight new hotels that are expected to open across various leisure and city destinations in 2024. This growth is timed to coincide with the expected rebound of leisure and business travel in the country and the sub-continent.

In 2024, Hyatt’s brand expansion in India and Southwest Asia will continue with its Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Centric brands. With an aim to expand the presence of its luxury and lifestyle brands in India, Hyatt also marked the strategic entry of the JdV by Hyatt brand in India with the official opening of Ronil Goa recently. The JdV by Hyatt brand is the ninth Hyatt brand to be introduced in the country reinstating Hyatt’s commitment to growing its footprint in India.

The Hyatt Regency brand, which is a key growth driver for Hyatt in the region, will enter a new destination with the slated openings of Hyatt Regency Kasauli and Hyatt Regency Ghaziabad. The Hyatt Place brand is expected to enter three new locations in the region with Hyatt Place Aurangabad, Hyatt Place Haridwar and in a new country with Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara (Bangladesh). The Hyatt Centric brand will expand its portfolio with the expected openings of Hyatt Centric Hebbal Bengaluru and Hyatt Centric Ballygunge Kolkata.

Recent and upcoming introductions include:

  • Ronil Goa, which is part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, offers a collection of vibrant, independent hotels that are true reflections of urban neighborhoods. Ronil Goa embraces the charm of Indo-Portuguese architecture, evoking the cozy ambiance of a boutique lifestyle property with 12 guest houses comprising 135 guestrooms, including four suites.   • Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara will be the first Hyatt hotel in Bangladesh. The hotel will feature 85 spacious guestrooms including nine suites that offer views of the runway and city. The hotel will offer a fitness center and a temperature-controlled infinity edge rooftop swimming pool. Intimate yet stylish, the hotel will also offer 1,500 square feet of meeting and event space.

  • Hyatt Place Haridwar will be the third Hyatt branded property in Uttarakhand and the first international hotel in the land of Ganges. Featuring 110 thoughtfully appointed guestrooms with space to work or relax, the hotel will be conveniently located near popular local attractions and tourist destinations like the beautiful ghats, the historic temples and sprawling gardens of Haridwar. Breaking New Horizons: 14th IIHTTRC 2024 Unveils Critical Insights on Tourism & Hospitality Amidst Climate Change and Geo-political Challenges

The 14th India International Hotel, Travel & Tourism Research Conference commenced on March 6, 2024, at the BCIHMCT in New Delhi, focusing on the pivotal theme, "Tourism & Hospitality: Climate Change, Geo-political Conflicts & Crisis Management." The first day unfolded with a series of engaging sessions. Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world, this conference serves as a crucial platform for exploring the intersection of climate change, geo-political conflicts, and effective crisis management within the hospitality and tourism sector.

The event began with the felicitation of esteemed guests and the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a soulful Ganesh Vandana. Prof. R.K. Bhandari, President of IIHTTRC 2024 and Director of BCIHMCT, welcomed the distinguished guests, researchers and the audience.

The chief guest, Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO of Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council of India, addressed the gathering, highlighting the crucial role of hospitality sector in the revival of economy after the Covid 19 era. He emphasized on the necessity for professionals in the hospitality and tourism sector to remain agile, alert, and aware in the rapidly evolving landscape. He stressed on the importance of swiftly adapting to changing circumstances to ensure the continued delivery of quality service to customers. Dr. Kevser Cinar, President of EATSA, (Euro Asia Tourism Studies Association), Associate Professor – Necmettin Erbakan University, Turkiye delivered a warm address, emphasizing the global significance of the conference. She shared her thoughts about the Tourism & World Peace.

Distinguished personalities in the industry graced the occasion with special addresses. Mr. Niranjan Khatri, Founder at iSambhav and Former General Manager of Environment Initiatives at ITC Hotels, added his perspectives on sustainability. He provided us with a comprehensive view of the issues that are currently affecting us, such as global warming, drought, and a lack of access to clean water. The Keynote Speech by Prof. Maharaj V. Reddy, Associate Dean (Research & Knowledge Exchange), Faculty of Art, Business & Social Science, University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom on “Building Resilience in Tourism & Hospitality: A Critical Review of Disaster and Crisis Management Research “ in which he talked about his first Project in Andaman & Nicobar Island having cultural Heritage category Biosphere conservation point. As principal investigator and co-investigator, Vijay’s inspiring projects that fit under the broader theme of sustainable development were commissioned by a range of national and international organizations, including UNESCO.

Prof. Dr Jan Mosedale, Director of Studies Master Tourism & Change & Head of Research, Institute for Tourism and Leisure Research ITF, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, Switzerland expressed his thoughts on “Climate Change impacts on Swiss Tourism and Hospitality” He began by outlining how climate change is affecting Swiss tourism by generating glacier melt, unexpected weather patterns, and changes in water supply, all of which have an influence on skiing, winter sports, and outdoor activities such as swimming and boating. He also stated that the drop in these activities is producing a problem in the country's tourism industry and will eventually have an impact on the economy, particularly in mountain areas. He went on to discuss the issues that farmers confront as a result of climate change.

At the end of the day, Dr. Vernika Agarwal, Associate Professor, and Dr. Pooja Chaturvedi Sharma, Assistant Professor, Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi, conducted a Research Workshop on "Writing a Research Paper/Project for Undergraduate Students". The main goal of this workshop was to familiarize participants with various research approaches, provide practical insight into conducting effective research, and discuss research issues and solutions. It brought together academics, scholars, and students from various academic backgrounds to exchange their knowledge, experiences, and best practices in research.

The inaugural day of the conference set a promising tone, initiating knowledge exchange and collaboration among experts in the field of tourism and hospitality.

Joining IHG’s fast-growing luxury & lifestyle portfolio, now the second largest in the world, the Kimpton property in Sicily will open in the second half of 2025 and represents a management agreement with partner Società Turistica Alberghiera Taorminese.

The Kimpton signing in Sicily follows six luxury and lifestyle openings and signings by IHG in 2023, demonstrating IHG’s investment and focus on this key market. This included the first urban expression of Six Senses opened in Rome, together with InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace and Hotel Indigo Florence. Two further Hotel Indigo properties are due to open in Turin and Trieste over the coming years, as well as IHG’s first Vignette Collection property, Hotel Alexandra, in Rome in 2025.

Nestled in the hill-top town of Taormina on the island’s east coast, the hotel will harness its heritage whilst embracing Kimpton’s ethos for superlative style, addictive irreverence and design led experiences that are ridiculously personal. The 59-boutique bedroom hotel is expected to feature destination dining that will appeal to hotel guests and locals alike. The breakfast room and bar terrace will also offer panoramic views, spanning from Calabria to the Bay of Isolabella.

Kimpton definition of wellness extends beyond the obvious to permeate the guest experience, from the community-building effects of Evening Social Hour to the healthy options available in the minibar. Continuing this ethos, the Kimpton in Sicily will feature an outdoor Mediterranean garden, 20-metre swimming pool, and a tennis court.

The new 466-key InterContinental Resort Portofino, The Heart of Europe will open its doors in early 2026 on The World Islands Dubai, strengthening IHG Hotels & Resorts luxury and leisure portfolio in the region.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 20 February 2024: The Heart of Europe, the flagship project of Kleindienst Group, signed an agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, to launch and manage the InterContinental Resort Portofino, The Heart of Europe on The World Islands, Dubai. The signing marks the first resort property in Dubai from the iconic InterContinental brand, reaffirming the company’s commitment to bringing luxury experiences across key leisure destinations in the region.
