VRO Hospitality on an aggressive expansion drive with Café Noir Targets 15 new outlets including one in Dubai

  • VRO plans to take Café Noir to Kochi, Chennai, and Kolkata

  • VRO to take up 30,000 sqft for Café Noir’s expansion in India

New Delhi, April 2022: India’s fastest-growing hospitality chain VRO Hospitality is on an expansion drive with its iconic and popular French café brand Café Noir across the country. The Bengaluru headquartered group, which owns around 10 popular fine-dining brands and cloud kitchens, is on a mission to open 15 new outlets of Café Noir and venture into new markets like Kochi, Chennai, and Kolkata and create its first international imprint in Dubai.

The six-month expansion drive will start from April 2022. With the expansion, VRO Hospitality will be increasing the number of Café Noir outlets to 21. Synonymous with French cuisine in Bengaluru, Café Noir’s first outlet came up in the city’s posh shopping destination UB City more than a decade ago. Café Noir currently boasts five outlets in Bengaluru and one in Mumbai, which was opened late last year.

VRO’s expansion plan is in line with the group’s aim to position Café Noir as a pan-India niche French café chain. Out of the 15 planned new outlets, Kochi will have one, Chennai four, Kolkata four, and Bengaluru will have seven new outlets. Café Noir will also be VRO’s first venture outside India and it would be coming up at Jumeriah in Dubai. Overall, VRO Hospitality is planning to take 30,000 sqft on rent for Café Noir’s expansion across different markets in India and 10,000 sqft in Dubai.

Commenting on the expansion plan, Dawn Thomas, CEO & Co-Founder, VRO Hospitality, said: “This year we are embarking on an exciting journey to take our iconic French café brand Café Noir to new markets, including an international destination. This is in line with our ambition of making VRO Hospitality a pan-India brand. Last year as a group we ventured out of Bengaluru for the first time by launching Café Noir in Mumbai in October 2021. Since then, the response has been fabulous. It has become a favorite spot for guests seeking a wholesome French cuisine and a relaxed dining experience. We would be extending our footprints in Kochi, Chennai, and Kolkata and in Dubai as we aggressively chase growth and profitability.”

An excited Sharath Rice, Director & Co-Founder, VRO Hospitality, said: “The expansion of Café Noir will allow us to offer a diverse set of food connoisseurs some of the best in French cuisines. Café Noir has already set a benchmark in the dining experience, and we will continue to do so in the new markets where we would be setting up our outlets.”

Originally started by Frenchman Thierry Jasserand a decade ago in Bengaluru, Café Noir became legendary for its bakes, coffees & breakfast. However, in 2020, Thierry decided to return home, which is also when VRO Hospitality took over this quaint coffee place. The cafe also has a new culinary director, Daniel Koshy, who comes with nearly three decades of experience, and is a magician in terms of baking.

About VRO Hospitality

One of the fastest-growing hospitality companies based out of Bangalore, VRO Hospitality owns upscale bars and restaurants in the city. It currently operates 10 fine dining brands and cloud kitchens. Some of its popular brands include Badmaash Lounge, Hangover, Plan B, Nevermind, Cafe Noir, Taki Taki and Tycoons.

TAAI had Meeting with Mr Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Spice Jet

Brief of Meeting had with Mr Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Spice Jet & TAAI

A virtual meeting with Mr Ajay Singh, CMD, SpiceJet was convened at 1400 hrs on Friday, February 11th, 2022. The agenda of the meeting was to clarify the ambiguity around the airline’s future and that of the Indian aviation sector, SpiceJet’s plans for 2022, launch of new flights and destinations, the airline’s logistics arm SpiceXpress and other concerns raised by TAAI members.

We are glad to share that we had a very good and constructive meeting with Mr. Singh and SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer, Ms. Shilpa Bhatia.

Mrs Jyoti Mayal, President, initiated the discussion and welcomed and thanked Mr Singh & Ms Bhatia for taking out time for the meeting. On behalf of members, she shared concerns on the continued challenges faced by the travel, tourism and aviation sectors, which have been the worst hit by the Covid pandemic. While many airlines across the globe had to unfortunately shutdown operations. Mrs Mayal said it was a relief that no such airline collapse was witnessed in India and it was a big achievement that our airlines had weathered the storm and were performing well. While some airlines in India were forced to retrench employees during the pandemic, Mrs Mayal noted with satisfaction and appreciated the fact that there was zero retrenchment in SpiceJet and the Company had done its best to take care of its employees.

She discussed the challenges that the sector was facing and sought clarity on the future plans of SpiceJet, its focus on commercial passenger operations and it’s fast growing logistics business, refunds, credits of TDS and incentives to members, if any, to members due to cancellations, and also a plan to further strengthen the relations between SpiceJet and TAAI and make it mutually beneficial. She also asked for inputs of the relevance of IATA for the Indian market as she had already had a meeting with the earlier Minister of Civil Aviation.

Responding & thanking Mrs. Mayal & TAAI for initiating this meeting, Mr Singh very candidly explained the challenges faced by Indian airlines & addressed all queries. Ms Shilpa Bhatia clarified that there were no pending refunds to any agent.

Mr Singh informed that under SpiceJet as the parent entity a new company has been incorporated in the name of SpiceXpress which will exclusively focus on Cargo. He went on to invite the TAAI members to come forward and leverage the opportunity by venturing into Cargo business bookings, for which mutually agreed commercial arrangements can be worked out.

Mr Singh said the pandemic had disrupted Indian aviation, tourism and travel sectors in ways no one could have anticipated. But challenges like this bring the best out of an airline like SpiceJet. SpiceJet has always looked for opportunities in the face of adversity, he said. SpiceJet built SpiceXpress during the pandemic and has grown that business from a $30-40 million a year to a $350 million a year business.

Mr Singh further clarified that with aviation coming back on track, especially the domestic operations, a window of opportunity is open to both airlines and travel agents to work in tandem and reap the attached benefits, which could be a stepping stone to revive fast. Had it not been for the recent Omicron scare, the recovery of the aviation sector and restoration of regular air travel would have started much earlier, Mr Singh said & hoped that this was a temporary setback.

He emphasised the need for having a domestic entity like IATA in place to have a more robust in-house management of issues and challenges. He suggested that Indian aviation and travel trade have its own issues and the way of handling them, and therefore having in place a domestic arrangement like such would be much helpful in dealing with the same, which was seconded by all present.

Mr Paras Lakhia, Chairman, Airline Council discussed various issues concerning agents, operational issues, changes in flight schedules etc.

TAAI representatives, Mr Shreeram Patel, Hon. Treasurer; Mr Sameer Karnani, Chairman – Western Region; Mr Amish Desai, Chairman (Karnataka Chapter), and Dr Himanshu Talwar, Executive Director all reemphasised the above issues, which were duly acknowledged by Mr Singh with an assurance of personally looking into the same and get it addressed on priority.

Mr Singh reemphasised the importance of travel agents & reiterated that SpiceJet would be happy to collaborate in revenue sharing of all ancillary products & also help to build a healthier & technology driven environment.

Mr Singh said the government realises the importance of the aviation sector and has taken many initiatives in the last five years to help the sector but much more needs to be done & it can we be achieved by working together.

In India, aviation fuel is taxed at the highest level in the world, airport charges are extremely high and there are all forms of other taxes and duties and regulatory complications which make us uncompetitive. These need to be resolved because India has this phenomenal potential of being an incredible aviation space given its geographic location, given the demand and the population that we have, he said.

He informed that at a post-budget interaction, on behalf of the civil aviation, travel, tourism and hospitality sectors, he had raised with the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman the difficulties being faced by these sectors because of Covid. He had requested the Hon’ble FM to consider granting Infrastructure Status to these sectors to facilitate lending by banks and financial institutions. He has also requested the Hon’ble FM’s support for inclusion of Aviation Turbine Fuel under GST.

Mr Singh informed, the Hon. FM has promised to consider granting infrastructure/ industry status to help the sectors of aviation, travel, tourism and hospitality. She has also assured that she will take up the issue of inclusion of Aviation Turbine Fuel under GST at the next meeting of the GST Council.

Mr Singh updated that SpiceJet had successfully reintroduced Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into operations and 11 of its 737 Max were already operational. The return of the MAX will help SpiceJet add new routes and destinations and improve operational efficiency.

Mr Singh said he believed that the worst is behind us and the road ahead is full of opportunities and a bright future awaits our airlines, travel and tourism sectors.

Mrs Mayal also applauded SpiceJet for having operated hundreds of charter flights in the last two years at a time when scheduled international flights had been suspended and creating business opportunities for agents as well as helping hundreds of thousands of people to travel to and from India.

Appreciation was shared for Chief Commercial Officer, Ms Shilpa Bhatia for always immediately resolving issues for the trade and our membership.

The meeting ended with thanks from all present on assurance to each other for working towards the industry & to have regular quarterly meeting with Chairman & to have a physical meeting soon to take all talks forward by exploring new opportunities as discussed.

The sodium chloride is recommended to replace with potassium chloride and the moisture to be maintained should not exceed 1%, while sodium chloride weight (dry basis) should be 60-75%. The parameter for refined iodized salt are 1% moisture, 98% sodium chloride, and alkalinity should be maximum 0.15% and pH range described is 6.0-7.5. Besides the draft describes the Wheat Flour. The wheat flour product means the end product obtained by milling or grinding clean wheat.

The definition of Resultant Wheatflour differs as the product obtained by blending different fractions in roller mills after separating maida and semolina during the processing procedure. These products are recommended to adhere to the parameters including the moisture content not exceeding 13.0% by mass, Glutennot less than 7% dry mass, crude fiber not less than 25%, and 98% granularity by mass.

The draft suggested all the millets to categorize under one heading-23 Millet of the regulation. The standards described apply to dehulled and whole millets. As per FSSAI, papad and papadum are derived from millet flour, a blend of cereal flour, fruits and vegetables, edible vegetable oils, spices, processed soy flour, and pulse flour. The papad should be labelled with the major ingredients used. The label should prefix the name of the ingredient used before “papad”. Under this parameter, the moisture should not exceed 11%, 0.2% alcoholic acidity accompanied by alcohol expressed as H2S04

The basics consumed on daily basis should be provided as per the standards mentioned by FSSAI. Those regular household consumption allow the consumers access enough nutrition. People can access the wholesome nutritional food fulfilling the requirement of the nutrition on daily basis.

Fortification is one of the steps implemented to ensure the consumption that fulfills the requirement. Those steps are initiated to avoid deficiency. The constant improvement in the regulation allows to open ways to improve the diet of every citizen. Also, when it comes to labelling, it’s a right of a common man to know the ingredients used in a product. People might be allergic to some ingredient or might be refraining to use those ingredients and labelling is best for the consumer awareness

Prime Minister to unveil 216-ft Statue of Equality in Hyderabad

Prime Minister to unveil 216-ft Statue of Equality in Hyderabad

President Ramnath Kovind will unveil the inner chamber 120 kg golden Ramanuja on 13th February, 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Statue of Equality on 5th February, 2022. It is a 216-feet tall statue of Sri Ramanujacharya, an 11th century Bhakti saint, and a revolutionary social reformer. The 45-acre complex housing Statue of Equality is centered in Shamshabad, Hyderabad, Telangana. President Ramnath Kovind will unveil the inner chamber 120 kg golden Ramanuja on February 13, 2022.

These events along with a 1035 yaaga fire oblation and spiritual activities such as mass manthra chanting are to be conducted as part of Sri Ramanuja Sahasrabdi ‘Samaroham’.  It is to celebrate the 1000th birth anniversary of the saint.  Events will kick off from February 2, 2022. Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao will be co-hosting the event with HH Chinna Jeeyar Swami. Several other chief ministers, politicians, celebrities, and actors will also grace the function.

This 1000-crore INR project was funded entirely by donations from devotees globally. The inner sanctorum deity of Sri Ramanujacharya is made of 120 kilos of gold to commemorate the 120 years the saint walked this earth. The outdoor 216-ft Statue of Equality will be the world’s second tallest statue featuring a sitting posture. It is composed of ‘panchaloha’, a combination of five metals: gold, silver, copper, brass, and zync. The complex has identical recreations of 108 Divya Desams, the 108 ornately carved Vishnu temples mentioned in the works of the Alvars, mystic Tamil saints.

Born in 1017 in Sri Perumbudur, Tamil Nadu, Sri Ramanujacharya liberated millions from social, cultural, gender, educational and economic discrimination with the foundational conviction that every human is equal regardless of nationality, gender, race, caste, or creed. He opened the doors of temples to all people, including those subjected to extreme discrimination. He remains a timeless icon of equality for social reformists around the world.

In his comments, Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, said, “We heartily welcome everyone including chief guests, dignitaries, devotees, and people from all walks of life for the grand opening of Statue of Equality.  Bhagavad Ramanujacharya has remained a true icon of equality for 1000 years and this project will ensure his teachings are practiced for at least another 1000 years. Our mission is to make Statue of Equality a culturally paramount destination for people across the globe and inspire everyone to make the world a more equal place to live. Today, as the world is fraught with divisiveness and populism, the need of the hour is Sri Ramanujacharya’s ideology.  A torch bearer of Vaishnavism, Bhagavad Ramanuja distilled the essence of Vedas and ancient wisdom to promote the timeless message of equality.  Inherently, non-discrimination and equality are the cornerstones of life.”

The foundation stone for the project was laid in 2014. The 54-ft high base building, named ‘Bhadra Vedi’, has dedicated floors for a Vedic digital library and research center, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery and a robust multi-language audio tour detailing many woks of Sri Ramanuja Acharya.

Renaissance Hotels Unveils Its Latest Resort in the Island of the Gods

Renaissance Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary hotel brands, unveils its second property in Island of the Gods with the opening of Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort. Perched on the hills above Nusa Dua and overlooking sprawling views of the lush green canopy and Indian Ocean, the new resort features 310 stylish guest rooms and four thematic pools, destined to welcome travelers to discover unexpected gems in the tropical destination.

“Nusa Dua has long been a spirited and sought-after enclave in Bali, surrounded by natural beauty, culture, and history,” said Catherine Flint, Director, Global Brand Management, Renaissance Hotels. “We are thrilled to grow our portfolio in the island, bringing our signature spin on the hotel experience to deliver an unexpected adventure through a local frame of mind.”

Drawing inspiration from the grand theatrics of traditional Balinese dances, especially the Barong Dance, the design of the Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort pays homage to one of the oldest forms of performing arts of the island. The newly opened resort is an ode to the richness of Balinese culture, brought to life by the meticulous design work of P49 Deesign. Created as sacred rituals and for entertainment, traditional Balinese dance routines are heavily influenced by nature and guests can discover these highlights in the ‘Good versus Evil’ murals and prints at R Bar, the vibrant industrial-style design at the Backstage, as well as the charming dance performance patterns adorning the backdrop of the ballroom.

The 310 guest rooms and suites are thoughtfully-designed as a tribute to the island’s heritage – with a Balinese mask pattern on the ceiling, a modern invention of ‘Balinese dancer’s head’ gobo light, and turquoise-accented walls for a sense of calm. Featuring breathtaking views of the island, the stylish rooms are seamlessly designed, with spacious bathrooms. A homage to the natural elements of the island, decorative wall ceramics adorn the walls to enhance the look of the space, with a freestanding ivory bathtub as its centerpiece.

Anchoring the six tempting food & beverage experiences at the resort is Backstage, an all-day dining restaurant offering wide selections of local and international favorites at its buffet and live stations. Lion X is a contemporary Chinese restaurant with innovative offerings such as Dim Sum as well as Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine with modern twist. The authentic Indonesian restaurant, Nusantara by Locavore, spotlights the country’s culinary heritage with a fresh look at its regional cuisines. A pottery atelier and cooking lab by day, Tanah Liat transforms by evening into an arts-and-crafts inspired restaurant featuring locally sourced fresh seasonal seafood and plant-based cuisines. Atomic 17 is the resort’s resident pool bar which serves fresh juices and smoothies as well as purist cocktail as the day progresses. Integrating the lobby and lounge, R Bar is where guests can relax and unwind over crafted cocktails, cold-brew coffee, and more by an expert mixologist and barista. As part of the signature Evenings at Renaissance programming – a ritual that ushers the transition of daytime to nightfall – R Bar transforms into an elevated venue where guests and locals can mix and mingle over a full cocktail program and live music every evening.

Guests can relax at The Spa wellness center with treatments inspired by the art of the Balinese healing method or keep up with their fitness regime at the 24-hour gym. Featuring four thematic pools, the main pool is located across the lobby whereas the jungle pool mimics the natural beauty that the island is renowned for – crowned in lush greenery and along a man-made waterfall. The lagoon-like jungle pool is also where The Cove is located, a stunning wedding venue with an aisle stretching right to the heart of the pool.

The resort offers 12,055 square feet of flexible function space to host events for any special occasion. Fully equipped with advanced audiovisual capabilities, the Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1,100 persons. Perfect for business meetings, the resort has five event rooms and a maximum of seven breakout rooms. Renaissance Hotels’ R.E.N. Meeting program features a dedicated event team committed to deliver seamless event experiences.

The Renaissance Navigator, the brand’s on-property neighborhood expert, is always on hand to help guests uncover the best local discoveries and the hidden gems that can only be experienced in that destination. For art aficionados, Museum Pasifika showcases artworks about Bali, painted by different artists from all over the world. For the adventurous, Bali Paragliding is a great way to enjoy Nusa Dua with a bird’s eye view. Guests can discover the best that Bali has to offer at At The Corner, where they can find unique selections of local accessories and women’s products as well as Jenggala, a store selling ceramics made by local artists.

The resort also showcases the spirit of the neighborhood through its unexpected design and local collaborations. At the resort, all Front office associates, navigator, and Rbar ambassadors are donned with outfits designed by acclaimed designer Paul Ropp, the iconic Bali-based fashion house, featuring bold and vibrant colors that match with the resort’s design and reflect the Balinese culture.

“We look forward to welcoming business and leisure travelers to discover the unexpected experiences in one of the most inspiring neighborhoods in Bali, as well as curating a relaxing and comfortable stay for them through our design-led spaces and excellent food & beverage experiences,” said Jeffrey Tyler, General Manager.

Situated on the southern part of Bali, Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort is a short 15-minute drive away from the Ngurah Rai International Airport, providing easy access for international and domestic travelers. The resort is also within close proximity to the renowned Nusa Dua Beach for those to enjoy the sun and beach.

Trends | Dineout Trends Report 2021 8,588 tables booking per hour using Dineout app

5 million Indians saved ₹1,360 crores while booking 8,588 tables per hour using Dineout in 2021, says the latest Dineout Trends Report 2021

  • On the back of revenge, dining put average bill paid in 2021 went up by 40% vs. 2020

  • Delhi emerges as the Dining Capital of India with 32% diners, Bangalore 2nd with 18%

New Delhi, January , 2022: After a period of lull due to Covid, Indians got back to dining out and that emerged as the most preferred activity in 2021 while accepting the new normal with fewer travel plans and frequent hang out rituals. More than 45 million Indians loved eating out at their favourite restaurants. 8,588 tables were booked per hour on the Dineout app with its users from across the country saving ₹1,360 crores via Dineout discounts and offers.

According to the latest Dineout Trends Report 2021 India’s largest dining out and restaurant tech platform, Dineout, ₹ 2,670 was the average bill paid in 2021 as compared to ₹ 1,907 in 2020. The 40% increase in ATV is due to revenge eating phenomena and pent-up dining out demands as it was the only source of entertainment for people in between multiple travel restrictions. Further, Delhi bagged the title of “Dining Capital of India” for the 3rd time in a row accounting for 32% of the total diners in India followed by Bangalore at 18%. Not much to our surprise, Butter Chicken, Dal Makhni & Naan yet again won the league making North Indian food a hit among Indians at 38%, Chinese at 18% and Continental at 16%. The City of Lakes, Udaipur, is the new “City of Love” with 44% of its bookings under "Table for 2" whereas the cities of Agra and Ludhiana had the maximum “Table for 4” reservations.

Interestingly, as much as India is a land of foodies, it boasts a significant number of drink enthusiasts. Bangalore consumed 50,000 litres of alcohol in the month of December alone making itself the Liquor capital of India in 2021. The report also throws light on the fact that dinner is the most preferred time to eat out by Indians. While the city of Agra loved to dine out during the night with 59.3% reservations made for the dinner, it was surprising to know that dinners in Chennai planned the most number of luncheons with 47% of table reservations done during lunch-time.

Diving deep in - the 2021 report, these were the most popular dining hubs across the country.

Talking about the dining trends of the year 2021, Ankit Mehrotra, Co-Founder & CEO - Dineout said, “It was another year sailing our boat in the new normal and we’re glad to be a part of every foodie’s journey where they were able to put an end to their cravings. In the year gone by, it was interesting to observe how revenge dining shot up the average bill by 40% but still diners made considerable savings. This is a testament to Dineout’s value for the diners. We also saw people getting cautious about their choices to dine out at luxury restaurants or places with 4+ reviews and ratings. A total of 73.5% of transactions were made pan India at 4+ rated restaurants. Mumbai stood out from the rest of the cities with a total of 85.2% of transactions done at the best restaurants in the city. Speaking of the overall restaurant revenue, modernizing technologies in restaurants did help us achieve an improved customer satisfaction, thereby boosting restaurant sales.”

Owing to the higher disposable income thanks to our WFH lifestyles, luxury dining across India has increased by as much as 120% & fine dining by 105%, and the average number of diners per booking has also risen.

Highlights from the report:

  • Bangalore loved to chill on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with over 73% of reservations made over the weekends.

  • 44% of the total reservations in Ludhiana were made on weekdays.

  • Connaught Place, Delhi was the most popular dining hub in India.

  • A diner Chinmay paid 238 times via Dineout Pay in 2021.

  • Vikram, another diner, paid INR 7.15 Lacs- single highest bill at BrewDog MidTown, Mumbai.

  • Diners saved INR 214 Crores using Dineout Passport Membership.

  • 2021 saw a total of 1.6 million of Dineout Passport transactions.

  • A Dineout Passport Member transacted 207 times in 2021 & saved a whopping amount of 2.41 lacs on fine dining.

Appreciating the steps taken by the Uttarakhand government to promote homestays, Jyoti Mayal, President, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has urged the Centre to consider the same model for other states as well while saying that ‘such baby steps would prove to be fruitful in the time to come.’ “We have already seen the worse and speaking from the wise man’s perspective, we all must know the survival amid Covid by now. We need to keep ourselves more than ready to go to any lengths if we want our tourism sector to flourish” Mayal commented.

The Uttarakhand government aims to boost the economy and tourism sector in the state through homestays which are on their way to be prepared in the villages too. Around 3,600 homestays are registered so far providing employment to 8,000 people.

Sharing his opinion on the employment generated by these homestays, Jay Bhatia, Vice President, TAAI said, “This seems to be a welcoming move especially in the times when people who lost their jobs and breadwinners in this pandemic and are in the dire need of money.”

Bettaiah Lokesh, HSG, TAAI in his comments acknowledged the state government’s move for engaging people and generating business and revenue. “The government is already providing self-employment through various schemes and have also simplified the process of loans; this homestay plan would not only provide bread to the locals but also boost tourism from travelers who like to enjoy local and comfortable places rather luxury hotels.”

“We all have seen a lot in the years gone by and are definitely ready if situations become fatal, but we cannot afford to let this pandemic be a hindrance in any way to our businesses. We as an industry stand strong and shall try our best to come up with ideas to keep the flow alive and we wholeheartedly support any good move like homestays that are directed towards strengthening the economy and boosting the travel sector,” stated Shreeram Patel, Treasurer, TAAI.

Marriott International Signs Agreement to Debut the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Brand in Eleuthera

Island Resort expected to feature 90 rooms and 60 residences and to blend seclusion and sophistication with unspoiled natural beauty

Marriott International, Inc. today announced it has signed an agreement with Cotton Bay Holdings to introduce a Ritz-Carlton Reserve on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. A highly personalized leisure experience that blends intuitive service with local design and stunning natural landscapes, the resort joins an exclusive collection of only five Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties around the world.

“We are thrilled to bring the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand and service to this pristine island in the Great Bahama Bank” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International. “We are excited to partner with Cotton Bay Holdings in developing this luxury resort, where the original Cotton Bay Club was built in 1959.”

Located on the southern end of the island, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Eleuthera is expected to feature an open-air resort including 90 intimate rooms forming part of the community once known as the iconic Cotton Bay Club. A range of select luxury amenities and exceptional services are slated to include an 18-hole golf course, a lavish spa and swimming pools, and restaurants all surrounded by pristine beaches, azure waters and tropical flora and fauna.

Plans also call for the inclusion of 60 Ritz-Carlton Reserve-branded residences, which are expected to include a mix of two to five-bedroom villas. Designed in the same unique architectural style of the resort, each privately owned residence will offer refined design and a one-of-a-kind luxury experience for owners.

“We are pleased to work with Marriott International to bring the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand and experience to one of the most exotic and secluded destinations in the Caribbean”, said Daniel Zuleta, Manager for Cotton Bay Holdings. “We are excited to make this project a prime example of business, environmental and social excellence. Our plan for the project takes into strong consideration the role of the local communities and their active participation for its success.”
