Kamats restaurant installs Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines

Hygienic and clean washrooms have been a prominent issue in the rural parts of our country. When we travel on the highways from one city to another, the one problem every woman and child faces is finding a hygienic washroom in between their journey. There are many public washrooms that we pass through, but hygiene is something that we cannot count on. To eradicate this problem once and for all, Kamats Restaurants, being a highway restaurant brand made it a mission to become a pit-stop with having a clean washroom, changing rooms, and pocket-friendly fresh food, keeping the quality of food persistent.

When asked Dr. Vikram Kamat about his thoughts on the same, he said, "Kamats has always been serving fresh and hygienic food to all its customers but when I joined the business, the first thing I tried focusing on, was the hygiene factor of our washrooms. A lot of road travelers in our country choose internationally famous brands for using their washrooms while they crave eating hot and fresh Indian meals. This made me think about the importance of clean washrooms for Indian road travelers along with great food. Therefore trying to bridge this gap we have ventured into making all Kamats provide not only hygienic food but also clean washrooms so that our guests can eat and freshen up in comfort at the same pit stop.”

He further added saying, “Along with clean washrooms, beginning from Kamats Karad, we have also started installing sanitary napkin vending machines at our women's washrooms. This will not only help our business but also improve us as a community and make Indian highway restaurants a preferred option too. This initiative is also aimed at our country's overall mission towards good hygiene and promoting local businesses and Kamats being an iconic brand it only makes us proud to contribute towards our own country and society.”

Busting Whiskey Myths On World Whiskey Day

MYTH 1: WHISKEY IS A ‘MAN'S DRINK’

The old stereotype that whiskey is a drink solely for men, enjoyed in exclusive cigar clubs is outdated and untrue. Today, the liquid is appreciated as a gender-neutral beverage that can be savoured by anyone who values its rich and complex flavours.

MYTH 2: THE BEST WAY TO CONSUME WHISKEY IS NEAT

While it's true that some patrons prefer to enjoy their whiskey neat or on the rocks, it's a common myth that this is the only way to consume it. In fact, many premium whiskeys, like Magnum Double Barrel Whiskey, are designed with a versatile flavor profile that makes them ideal for mixing in cocktails. Experimenting with different mixers and creating your own signature cocktail is also a fun and exciting way to explore the category basis individual tastes and preferences.

MYTH 3: BLENDED WHISKEY’S ARE NOT AS REFINED

The age-old question of whether blended whiskey can measure up to pure blends has been a subject of much debate. However, the truth is that creating the perfect blend of whiskeys is more of an art than a science. Blended whiskey, when done right, can satisfy even the most discerning palates, and provide an unparalleled, flavourful drinking experience.

MYTH 4: COCKTAILS ARE BEST MADE WITH WHITE LIQUOR AS THE BASE

The notion that cocktails are only made with white liquor as the base is a common misconception. Whiskey, with its complex and nuanced flavor profile, can be an excellent base for cocktails too. The key to making a great whiskey cocktail is to find the right mixers that can enhance its unique flavors. For instance, lemon juice adds a citrusy tang to whiskey in a Whiskey Sour, coffee can also be used as a mixer in classic cocktails like the Irish Coffee, where hot coffee is combined with whiskey, sugar and a layer of whipped cream on top.

MYTH 5: WHISKEY IS A WINTER DRINK

Despite popular belief, whiskey is not just a winter drink. In fact, whiskey can be the perfect summer drink as well. Whiskey Sour, Bourbon Peach Tea, Irish Coffee Milkshake or a simple Whiskey Lemonade are perfect for a hot summer evening or a weekend BBQ party.

MYTH 6: ALL WHISKEYS TASTE THE SAME

It's a common misconception that all whiskeys taste the same. Each has it’s own set of complexities, unique notes that when tasted neat or mixed with the right mixer can come to life and make for a great drink.

In conclusion, don't let myths about whiskey being a man's drink or tasting the same stop you from trying the golden liquid. Experiment with mixing it and create your own signature drink. Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or mixed with your favourite chaser - have it, the way you like it.

We asked her to speak especially about her challenges as a woman, leader, management style, and an entrepreneur:

I felt that more than the external challenges women faces their own internal challenges that I had to manage in the internal world. Hence one has to be solution focused and remain invested in their own strengths, upgrading and constant perseverance.

I got freedom of choice and pursued it with full determination to excel so I learnt how to be in a business, systematic thinking, ERP, setting up a franchisee. The idea became a committed vision for me to drive it with a pure intention, my intention was to create an extensive outreach through trained practionars and not just on money.

I realised I had to move with a focus on growth through contribution and move beyond small ideas.

I would like to specifically mention the coincidence of the birth of her son and Ayushakti which was also on the brink of becoming a strong business, She managed it with careful planning on her schedule, invested quality time with her son (She fondly talks about the story time with her son which was her way of guiding principles-Samsakara (In Hindi).

Her view on good well-being and its contribution towards a successful business acumen and persona:

She believes a holistic persona is capable of continuously pursuing their purpose with zeal and not just scratching the surface, it requires grit, determination silencing your mind chatter, and overall a holistic persona. Hence one needs to be mindful of their diet (food consumption, knowledge consumption, conversation, and even interactions) a well-balanced day requires careful planning and discipline that has to be managed with commitment and the 1st commitment begins with self. She ends her work day by 6 pm but during her day it is her systematic and planned methodology that ensures that she is on top of numbers, is mentoring her staff, and also taking care of the business affairs. During her late evening hours, she dedicates it to reading and self-growth.

A goal can only become a reality by continuous learning, she learned to be an entrepreneur from a medical profession by constantly learning management, technology, and trends in the business and staying rooted to her principle of a good diet(Both for body, and mind and soul)

How has she led her life principles and some sharing for the women of today?

Pursue your goals with commitment and don’t limit yourself with the stereotype of your gender, reach out for support, take care of your own health, diet, exercise, talk to people and definitely hard work. Success would come through but prior remain focused on your goals.

This year IWD campaign talks about #IWD2023 #Embrace Equity essentially promoting equanimity and equity beyond gender bias but invested in driving a compassionate, inclusive, and collaborative approach to all those that require support.

Through her endeavour to create a great mentors, a thriving business that’s contributing towards global health via mindful and conscious choice Dr. Smita is in her own pursuance to do that for one and all truly propagating equity in wellbeing.
