Middle East, August 2023 - The Ascott Limited (Ascott), one of the leading international lodging owner-operators, is pleased to announce the appointment of Maximilian (Max) Rauch as the new Head of Food and Beverage (F&B) for Middle East, Africa and Türkiye (MEAT). With over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Rauch will spearhead Ascott’s appetite to amplify its F&B offerings for owners and guests, providing tailored solutions to each of its 13 operational properties in the region that currently house over 16 F&B outlets.  

In his new role, Rauch will extend his expertise to Ascott’s portfolio of owners and restaurant operators across the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Türkiye and Kenya, creating dedicated training programmes, implementing customised service solutions, and bolstering industry specific partnerships to strengthen the group’s F&B offerings. With his extensive background in culinary management and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences, Rauch will play a pivotal role in elevating Ascott's F&B offerings to new heights.

Throughout his impressive career, the dynamic F&B leader has held key positions across the hospitality and corporate sectors. During his tenure as Restaurant Manager at Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr, Rauch was responsible for launching iconic events such as ‘Feria de Abril,’ Flamenco, and ‘Spanish Nights.’ From executing themed brunches and nights, to improving service standards, he implemented innovative strategies to elevate the F&B quality, increase restaurant capacity, and optimise Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr’s RevPash.  

 

Furthermore, as Head of Operations for The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Jumeirah Group, Rauch managed extensive multi-department operations across 434-keys, and pioneered creative growth strategies resulting in revenue increase, optimisation of underutilised spaces, improving the quality of service for operating cafés, and the launch of two coffee shops. The hospitality maverick also oversaw the growth of the Group’s events department by analysing offerings to meet evolving customer demand, resulting in a 10% year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue, which earned him the title of Director of Operations. Prior to joining The Ascott Limited, Rauch led the procurement and business development operations at Taaleem Group, managing procurement for over 26 schools. Here he far exceeded expectations by increasing the education management group’s ancillary revenue by 15%, while reducing contractual costs by 5% by enhancing client-supplier partnerships.

Rishi Kapoor joins Collinson as Chief Transformation Officer

Rishi’s appointment will significantly strengthen Collinson’s transformation capability, with responsibility for driving a cohesive approach to overall business change, including supporting on existing transformation programs across product, data, and technology.

Joining from British Airways, Rishi has over twenty-five years’ experience of leading business transformation teams. He recently concluded a four-year secondment at the Oneworld Alliance as Chief Transformation Officer, where he led its Digital, Customer Experience, Commercial and Member Services functions, playing an instrumental role in developing its branded lounge and loyalty upgrade propositions.

He also oversaw the complex integration of BMI into British Airways – the last significant airline merger in the UK and regarded as one of the most successful worldwide.

Raffles Cambodia Appoints Andrew Hartley Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia 2023 Raffles Hotels & Resorts has appointed Andrew Hartley as its new cluster director of sales and marketing, overseeing two of Southeast Asia’s most iconic luxury hotels: Raffles Hotel Le Royal and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor.

Hartley, who is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, brings more than 20 years of experience in luxury hotels around the world, including in Thailand, Singapore, Australia, China, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and Oman. He was most recently assistant vice president of strategic sales and marketing for Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts in the Asia-Pacific based in Singapore.

He was also previously the regional director of sales and marketing for Sofitel luxury hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Before that, Hartley was director of sales and marketing for Sofitel Shanghai Jing’an Huamin in China and Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in Vietnam.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal, situated in Cambodia’s vibrant capital, Phnom Penh, originally opened in 1929 and today features 175 rooms and suites that underwent a full refurbishment as part of a meticulous one-year restoration project in 2019.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is on the doorstep of ancient Khmer archeological sites in Cambodia and is considered a national treasure. Originally opened in 1932, the hotel was built as a rest stop for archeologists and adventurers seeking to explore the ancient kingdom of Angkor Wat, which is today one of the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
