Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Newly Launched Five-Star Amora Beach Resort Phuket

November 2023: Amora Beach Resort Phuket receives extensive refurbishment costing THB 500 million (US$14 million) as part of its repositioning into a five-star modern lifestyle resort that meets the preferences of active and adventurous couples, friends and families. Located on an exclusive 80m stretch on Bang Tao Beach, the 264-key resort is expected to re-open in December this year with newly built facilities.

Owned and operated by Amora Hotels & Resorts, Amora Beach Resort Phuket first opened its doors in 1999 as a four-star resort, and with its refurbishment, serves as the flagship resort for the group in Thailand. In addition to renovated rooms and suites across 13 categories, the beachfront resort introduces the new-concept Nora Beach Club, Amora Wellness Center with massage and fitness facilities, Isla restaurant, a kids’ club, two pools, a beachfront events lawn, the Amora Grand Ballroom and four meeting rooms.

“With strong demand returning, the repositioning of Amora Beach Resort Phuket is a timely one, considering the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s re-focus on luxury tourism and new market opportunities, particularly to islands such as Phuket,” says Amora Hotels & Resorts’ Owner/Director Chaowaphat Siriphatrawan. “Travellers are now willing to pay a lot more for hotel room rates in Phuket, which has currently achieved a new peak, and Amora is stepping up our game to provide exceptional experiences and high-quality services and products that make it well worth their while and keep them coming back.”

“There is much potential for well-managed five-star resorts in Phuket to be outstanding in meeting the modern lifestyle needs of the travellers of today, and Amora is in a strong position to tap into the current opportunities,” adds Amora Beach Resort Phuket’s General Manager Lars van der Most. “Given the resort’s legacy of providing warm family-oriented service by long-serving staff to regular guests, and bolstered by a line-up of attractive facilities for leisure and MICE, I have no doubt that our brand will resonate well with all our guests,” he adds.

The resort’s rooms have been refurbished in a contemporary style, adorned in soothing neutral tones with clean minimalist lines that flow organically from bed to balcony. Each room has a private balcony or terrace with views of either landscaped gardens, glistening pools or the Andaman Sea. Guests have a choice of 32-40 sqm Superior room types, 36-48 sqm Deluxe room types, 32-40 sqm Amora Ocean View rooms, 40-48 sqm Amora Grand Pool View/Pool Side rooms, and 40 sqm Deluxe Family rooms with additional bunk beds for children. Three suite types ranging from 52 sqm to 144 sqm are also available.

A thoughtfully curated suite of facilities caters to the needs of different guest profiles. From quiet sophistication and holistic mindfulness to family adventures and culinary appreciation, guests will be able to enjoy their stay in an environment that snuggles them in their comfort zone. One of the key highlights is the new-concept Nora Beach Club for guests who want to dine and chat; drink and chill; or dance and enjoy live music. The club is unique in its integrated concept featuring a modern Mediterranean restaurant, a bar and a lounge with distinct zones; sunken beachfront pods that ensconce guests in its private setting while surrounded by water; and a roster of international musicians playing live music.

Adults and children alike will have their favourite moments to remember at the resort. The kids’ club has been conceptualised for engaging playtime on different levels. There is a play zone fitted with a rubber slider in a ball house for the active ones; a craft zone for young artists to flex their skills; and a multimedia zone to nurture young minds with edutainment. Additionally, a packed programme of beach activities, sports-related classes, movies, and more, will keep the children happy and busy.

When it’s time to focus inwards and seek holistic healing, the Amora Wellness Center beckons with soothing spa treatments, rejuvenating massages or energising fitness workouts. To satiate the appetite, Isla offers all-day dining with a diverse menu of Western and Asian cuisines and a live-cooking station, while the Lobby Lounge offers a patisserie menu and a casual, chic setting for teatime conversations.

Amora Beach Resort Phuket’s wedding and MICE facilities are also an important component of its refurbishment. Its beachfront location on the pristine Bang Tao Beach lends itself well as a desirable destination for weddings and incentive travel groups. The new beachfront events lawn is specifically designed for those special moments. This versatile 1,000 sqm venue can be set up for intimate ceremonies, classy cocktail receptions or grand gala dinners, supported by an experienced events planning team. Astra is another venue that offers an ambient rooftop space overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Going indoors, the 360 sqm Amora Grand Ballroom can host up to 400 guests, ranging from about 250 pax banquet-style and 330 pax theatre-style to 400 pax reception-style. It is a newly built ballroom fitted with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology and designed in a contemporary style that creates a bright and uplifting ambience. Event organisers may also utilise an additional 700 sqm from four meeting rooms, which includes 330 sqm of configurable space.

“As a modern lifestyle resort, we cater to the diverse preferences of our guests in such a way that experiences may be enjoyed in their respective comfort zones with other like-minded guests. We segment our offerings with a zoning approach that provides a sense of spatial flow and exclusivity to the desired experience,” says Lars.

●       Fudr helps F&B brands in India build their app economies through its SaaS-based App builder stack that is fully integrated with POS and payment systems

●       Fudr is creating a Unified Restaurant Interface(URI) which will be a hub for all customer interactions and will act as a flywheel, using past data to continually refine and personalize experiences

Mumbai, November 2023: F&B SaaS platform Fudr has announced a strategic partnership with Barista, one of the largest coffee chains in India with over 400 outlets. As part of this partnership,  Barista will be launching its rewards-based food ordering & payment app in Q3 2023. Fudr has also signed Zorawar Kalra’s Massive Restaurants, which runs 20+ popular brands like Farzi Cafe, Pa Pa Ya, Louis Burger, to launch their super app for all the F&B brands under the umbrella. In addition, Hyderabad-based well-known F&B chain Ohris has also come onboard to launch their app for self pick up, ordering and loyalty cards for their speciality coffee brand Qaffiene.

Rajat Agrawal, CEO, Barista Coffee, says, “In the current era, digitization has become of supreme essence. We have been evaluating a loyalty solution for our customers for a while and did evaluate a few service providers for the same. I am happy to share that we have signed up a mandate with Fudr for developing our loyalty app considering the proactive approach of the team and detailed insights provided during the shortlisting process. We are excited to launch our loyalty app soon with the Fudr team and I am sure this will enable more seamless interactions with our guests and create a more rewarding environment for them as they engage with us across multiple stores.”

Aayush Khandpur, Co-founder & CEO, Fudr says - “Fudr is not merely an app but an investment in the future of restaurant chains. In this AI-driven era, we believe technologies should focus on direct connection with their customers, rather than going through aggregators. Customer preferences & usage data are restaurant key IP that should be used to build long-term engagement & loyalty.  That's why we're creating a Unified Restaurant Interface (URI). It's a hub for all customer interactions and acts as a flywheel, using past data to continually refine and personalise experiences. With our strategic partnership with Barista, we aim to elevate the brand presence and cultivate meaningful connections along with maximising customer satisfaction & loyalty.”

With such disruptive partnerships, Fudr aims to build a robust digital infrastructure for the mid and large restaurant brands by helping them roll out complex tech solutions for setting up their apps to drive higher customer engagement and retention, without increasing dependency on food aggregators apps, which is now a duopoly.

Fudr has been growing consistently in the last 12 months. The Company, which currently serves over 20 restaurant chains pan India, is planning to add 150 restaurant brands in the next 18 – 24 months. Fudr also plans to expand its presence globally by entering key markets like South East Asia and MENA regions while growing horizontally in India as they expand their platform offerings to other fast-growing sectors like D2C, salon and wellness.

According to industry reports, India's software-as-a-service (SaaS) market continues to go from strength to strength and is projected to reach $50 billion of annual recurring revenue (ARR) by 2030, nearly quadrupling its size today. The ecosystem undoubtedly continues to mature even in the current market environment. Statista data also reveals that the Indian restaurant industry has massively grown in the organised sector and the unorganised sector, providing FUDR with a substantial market to build on

About Fudr:

Fudr is a platform for digitizing restaurant chains to build long-term customer retention & loyalty. Fudr builds a white-labelled app to run targeted campaigns, reward loyal customers & manage payments.

Skyscanner Horizons Report Reveals Key Insights Into Evolving Global Traveller Attitudes And Preferences

• Travel and travel spending remains a top priority in 2024, with booking windows extending across all regions.

• Travellers highly engaged with mobile, social channels for planning and inspiration, with mixed AI use.

• Destination choice influenced by the particular ‘vibe’, aligned to traveller preferences.

• Travellers from India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, and USA are the most intent on 2024 travel.

INDIA, November 2023: Travel marketplace Skyscanner is today publishing a new report exploring the latest trends in global travel. Titled Skyscanner Horizons: 2023/4 destination and booking insights, the report unpacks and explores a combination of consumer survey and proprietary search and booking data to provide a unique view of how travellers are thinking about their plans for the next 12 months.

Survey data from 18,000 consumers in 15 markets reveals insights about key indicators such as travel propensity, spend, trip type, mobile device actions and the trip planning process, including the top sources of destination inspiration. Skyscanner search and booking data is overlayed to provide additional information about booking windows by haul type, trending destinations as well as snapshots of three important travel markets – India, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

The report also features exclusive expert commentary on these trends shaping recovery from industry thought leaders such as Hugh Aitken from Skyscanner, Centre for Aviation’s Marco Navarria, and Nick Hall of Digital Tourism Think Tank.

Mike Ferguson, Director of Destination Marketing at Skyscanner commented: “2023 has been a seminal year in travel. In all regions we see that travellers are highly engaged in the booking and planning process, searching for destination inspiration from a variety of sources and planning long-haul trips further in advance. Destination choice is increasingly influenced by not only cultural factors but also the particular ‘vibe’ that aligns with individual preferences and motivations.”

Hugh Aitken, VP of Strategic Relations and Development at Skyscanner said: “Airlines continue to restore and re-orientate their global networks to meet traveller demand. Countries such as India and Turkey have outlined ambitious plans and will be important drivers of both domestic and international air connectivity in 2024 and beyond. At the same time, travellers in many markets are signalling a willingness to upgrade their fares and build customised itineraries that provide them with the best value.”

Nick Hall, CEO of Digital Tourism Think Tank commented: “High travel propensity means destinations must focus on values and experiences. This report is a clear demonstration that travel is well and truly back, with propensity remaining high now and into the future, even amongst a climate of global economic uncertainty. With travel spend a key priority for consumers globally, destinations, along with their industry partners, must focus on value proposition more than ever. Honing in on what sits at the very core of the destination’s brand values is key to winning travellers’ hearts. Yet, driving demand, with timely product proposition, is key to shaping decisions.”

Marco Navarria, Global Content and Marketing Director at CAPA said: “As highlighted in the 2023/24 Skyscanner Horizons report, travellers are increasingly opting for connections to smaller niche markets over the major tourist destinations of years gone by. Recovery from the pandemic has allowed airlines to rebuild and expand their networks to explore new and different locations. This willingness to venture into new routes and build new markets supported the rebuild of global capacity to pre-pandemic levels in 2023. There are increased expectations that airlines will go beyond this in 2024, connecting the globe better than ever before.”

The Elegant Technique Of Tactful Refusal by Saurabh Pande

A SOPHISTICATED APPROACH TO DECLINING REQUESTS IN HOSPITALITY AND SERVICE SECTORS

Welcome, fellow hospitality professionals, to an exploration of an often-overlooked aspect of our industry - the art of tactful denial. As experienced mavens in this bustling and vibrant sector, we are all too familiar with the central role customer satisfaction plays in our enterprises. Guests are the cornerstone of our operations, the vital life force that drives us forward. Our mission? To consistently deliver unparalleled service and thereby safeguard the esteemed reputation of our industry. Amidst this rewarding, though challenging journey, we often encounter a common and timeless axiom, "YOU CAN NEVER SAY NO; BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO SAY NO"

In the ever-evolving landscape of hospitality, we frequently come face-to-face with situations where fulfilling every guest request isn't feasible. Various factors, from operational constraints to unexpected circumstances or policy restrictions, may necessitate a polite refusal. But here's the catch - it's not about the refusal itself, but how we convey it. The tact, diplomacy, and elegance with which we navigate these situations can significantly influence our guests' perceptions and their overall experience.

Through the lens of this article, we aim to journey together through the nuanced art of respectfully declining requests while maintaining the highest standards of service. Consider this piece a roadmap, providing you with strategies to strike a balance between catering to guests' expectations and adhering to our establishment's operational limitations.

This article will focus on refining the methods of refusal, ensuring they don't undermine the guest experience but instead, elevate it. Our goal? To create a harmonious blend of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. As we delve into the depths of this topic, we will unveil ten practical and effective strategies. Each one will serve as a stepping stone towards mastering the art of tactful denial, a skill that ensures your guests always feel valued and respected, even when certain requests cannot be met.

So, let's embark on this enlightening journey, as we uncover these ten key strategies of denial, each one a powerful tool to transform potential negatives into opportunities for amplifying guest satisfaction.

Use Positive Language: Instead of focusing on the negative, try to use positive words when talking with guests. For example, if a guest wants to bring a pet, which we don't allow, instead say, "We can recommend some nearby pet-friendly accommodations that might suit your needs." This shows respect and consideration even when you have to say no.

Offer Alternatives: When you have to deny a request, suggest other viable options. This shows empathy and underscores your dedication to their experience. For instance, if a guest wants a poolside room that is unavailable, propose a room with a garden view as a pleasant alternative.

Be Clear and Direct: Avoid unclear phrases or promises that can't be kept, as they lead to confusion and disappointment. For instance, if a guest requests late checkout but it's not possible due to peak season, explain the situation clearly to avoid misunderstandings.

Show Understanding: Truly understand and acknowledge guests' feelings when explaining why their requests can't be fulfilled. If a guest is upset because the spa is fully booked, empathize with their disappointment and suggest alternatives like local wellness centers.

Remain Professional: Stay calm and professional, even when dealing with difficult situations or guests. For example, if a guest is angry because of a reservation error, handle the situation with grace, apologize, and offer a solution.

Train your Team: Make sure your entire team knows the hotel's policies and procedures. This empowers them to handle tricky situations confidently. For example, when a guest demands a refund that goes against the hotel's policy, a well-trained staff member will handle the situation tactfully.

Listen Actively: Give your full attention to guests' concerns and acknowledge them before providing your solution. If a guest complains about a noisy air conditioner, listen carefully to their problem, apologize, and then explain the steps you'll take to resolve it.

Pay attention to your Tone: Your voice tone can greatly influence the message you're trying to convey. It's important to ensure your tone matches the words you're speaking. For example, when informing a guest that their room isn't available for early check-in, use a sympathetic and calm tone. This shows that you understand their anticipation and are not just mechanically enforcing rules.

Be mindful of your Body Language: Facial expressions and gestures also play a significant role in communication. They should be in harmony with your spoken words to avoid any miscommunication. For instance, when explaining to a guest why a certain service is unavailable, maintaining eye contact and having an open posture can demonstrate sincerity and willingness to help, even in undesirable circumstances.

Practice Difficult Situations: Boost staff confidence in handling tough conversations by role-playing different denial scenarios. This helps staff to be prepared and handle such situations effectively. For instance, rehearse a scenario where a guest insists on an early check-in which isn't possible, so staff know how to respond politely and professionally.

As we wrap up this exploration into the subtle art of saying "NO" in the hotel industry, let's reflect on what we've learned. These strategies we've discussed aren't just about learning to say ' NO '. They're about how to do it in a way that upholds our reputation, keeps our guests happy, and allows us to run our businesses effectively.

Turning down a guest request doesn't mean we're letting our guests down. With a bit of empathy and creativity, we can turn these moments into opportunities to impress our guests even more. These moments can help us build stronger relationships with our guests and make them feel valued and understood.

The result is a guest who leaves our hotel feeling satisfied and cared for, despite not having all their requests met. These positive experiences often lead to guests returning and recommending our hotel to others, which is a win for everyone.

These are the core lessons that I hope you take away from this discussion. As you continue on your journey in the hospitality industry, I hope these lessons will guide you and help you find success. Remember, it's not just about saying ' NO '; it's about saying ' NO ' in a way that says 'YES' to exceptional service, strong guest relations, and a successful business.

To encapsulate, this article aims to provide a foundational understanding of developing assertiveness, focusing specifically on the vital competence of articulating a respectful 'NO'. As you progress in enhancing this skill, it is imperative to always uphold the values of professionalism, modesty, and graciousness in your communications, which will result in a more effective and engaging dialogue. The path toward self-confidence is indeed a continual journey that necessitates ongoing improvement and personal development.

Ingredient Ideology | Delectable Diwali Delicacies… By: Dr. Kaviraj Khialani- celebrity master chef.

Introduction to Diwali

Diwali, the "Festival of Lights," is a Hindu celebration in India and beyond. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The key elements are lighting lamps, prayers, gift exchanges, fireworks, feasting, and home decoration. Diwali promotes family unity, new beginnings, and joy, transcending religious boundaries.

Brief history of Diwali

Diwali, with origins dating back to ancient India, is a festival deeply rooted in Hindu, Jain, and Sikh traditions. It celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Over time, it has evolved into a cultural celebration uniting people of various faiths, marked by the lighting of lamps, prayers, gift-giving, feasting, and fireworks. Diwali is a testament to India's cultural diversity and unity.

Why is Diwali celebrated?

Diwali is celebrated to mark the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Brief about the food - clothing- and decor presented during Diwali time

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a major Hindu festival celebrated by people all over the world. It is a time for families and friends to come together, exchange gifts, and enjoy delicious food and festivities.

Food

Diwali is a time of feasting and celebration, and food plays a major role in the festivities. Some of the most popular Diwali foods include:

·        Sweets: Diwali is known for its delicious sweets, such as gulab jamun, ladoo, jalebi, and barfi. These sweets are often made with nuts, dried fruits, and milk products, and are decorated with silver leaf and other edible embellishments.

·        Savories: Diwali savories include dishes such as samosas, kachori, pakoras, and chaat. These dishes are typically made with potatoes, peas, paneer, and other vegetarian ingredients, and are served with a variety of chutneys and sauces.

·        Main courses: Diwali main courses include dishes such as biryani, pulao, and korma. These dishes are typically made with rice or meat, and are served with a variety of vegetables and side dishes.

Clothing

Diwali is a time to dress up in new clothes and celebrate. Traditional Diwali clothing for men includes kurtas, dhotis, and sherwanis. Traditional Diwali clothing for women includes saris, lehengas, and salwar kameezes.

Many people also choose to wear modern or Western clothing on Diwali. However, it is important to dress respectfully, as Diwali is a religious festival.

Decor

Diwali is a time to decorate homes and businesses with lights, flowers, and other festive decorations. Some of the most popular Diwali decorations include:

·        Diyas: Diyas are small clay lamps that are filled with oil and lit on Diwali night. They are placed all over the house, inside and out, to symbolize the victory of light over darkness.

·        Rangoli: Rangoli are colorful designs that are created on the floor using colored powders, sand, and flowers. They are often created in the entrance of the house to welcome guests.

·        Lights: Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights, so it is no surprise that lights play a major role in the decorations. String lights, lanterns, and other light decorations are hung all over houses and businesses.
