Addressing Seasonality: Strategies for Year-Round Tourism By Abhishek Dhar, General Manager, Elements by Rosetta, Varca, Goa

Goa has always been a seasonal destination, with its beaches drawing crowds in winter and thinning out as the temperature rises or the rains roll in. But at Elements by Rosetta, the experience has been carefully designed to go beyond the typical tourist calendar. Located just minutes from the quiet Varca Beach, the resort stays relevant and inviting all year round by focusing on thoughtful hospitality, seasonal offerings, and guest comfort across every touchpoint.

At the heart of Elements by Rosetta is its consistency in delivering a high-quality guest experience, no matter the month. Families and couples alike are welcomed with warm hospitality, spacious rooms featuring 400-thread-count linen for restful sleep, and invigorating showers with consistent 3-bar pressure — details that ensure every stay feels like a true break.

The all-day dining restaurant serves a well-rounded menu, while guests can enjoy drinks by the poolside bar or opt for a more immersive experience at the beach-facing Ouzo Delmar, which is part of the Elements by Rosetta property.

Goa’s summers are known to be hot, but Elements by Rosetta has turned that into an advantage. Understanding that many still want to be close to the sea, Ouzo Delmar was launched as a beachside restaurant with a rare feature for Varca — a full-fledged air-conditioned dining section. It allows guests to enjoy the view and vibe of the beach without being affected by the heat. The restaurant serves refreshing drinks and food that includes seasonal fruits and summer specials, like mango-based dishes, keeping the menu light and timely.

During the monsoon, Elements becomes a quiet and calming getaway. With fewer crowds on the beach and the natural surroundings coming alive, it turns into a perfect place for rest and rejuvenation. Guests can enjoy spa therapies that focus on relaxation and healing. The weather also encourages slow travel, and those who enjoy exploring have access to nearby churches, temples, waterfalls, museums, and forts — all within easy driving distance.

Come October to December, the resort enters its most lively phase. The festive season brings with it a full calendar of events. From live music evenings and festive menus at Ouzo Delmar to in-resort celebrations for Diwali, Christmas, and New Year, there’s always something happening. The vibe is energetic, and guests enjoy both curated experiences and a natural sense of celebration.

What sets Elements apart is how well it suits family travellers. Spacious rooms, thoughtful amenities, and the availability of activities for both adults and children make it a convenient yet luxurious choice. Engage – The Activity Center and the outdoor pool are available year-round, ensuring kids and families always have something to do, regardless of the weather.

Elements by Rosetta doesn’t just adapt to the seasons — it prepares for them. Whether it’s launching a beachside restaurant for the warmer months or leaning into wellness during the rains, the resort ensures that guests have a reason to return any time of the year. And with Ouzo Delmar complementing the experience, it’s more than just a stay — it’s a well-rounded escape, in every season.

Summer Special Feast With Mangoes

INTRODUCTION

Mangoes, often called the "king of fruits," are celebrated worldwide for their deliciously sweet and juicy flavor. This tropical fruit stands out not only for its vibrant yellow or orange flesh but also for its nutritional benefits, including being a rich source of vitamins A and C, dietary fiber, and antioxidants. Mangoes are incredibly versatile in culinary applications, from being eaten fresh to being incorporated into a wide array of dishes, among which mango shakes and smoothies are particularly beloved.

Whether enjoyed as a simple mango shake, a complex smoothie with multiple ingredients, or even with added superfoods for an extra health boost, these drinks epitomize the delightful intersection of nutrition and flavor that mangoes bring to the table

ORIGIN

The origin of mango shakes and smoothies can be traced back to the tropical regions where mangoes are abundantly cultivated, such as South Asia, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa. Mangoes have been cultivated for thousands of years in these regions, and their deliciously sweet and juicy flesh has long been enjoyed fresh or incorporated into various culinary creations.

The concept of blending mangoes into drinks likely evolved as a way to make the most of this flavorful fruit, especially during peak mango season when there is an abundance of ripe fruit available. In these regions, where temperatures can soar, mango shakes and smoothies offer a refreshing and hydrating way to beat the heat while enjoying the natural sweetness of mangoes.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF MANGOES

Rich in Vitamins and Minerals: Mangoes are a great source of vitamins A and C, both of which are essential for maintaining healthy skin and immune function. They also contain vitamins E, K, and various B vitamins, along with minerals like potassium, magnesium, and copper.

Antioxidant Properties: Mangoes contain various antioxidants, such as mangiferin, quercetin, and ascorbic acid, which help protect the body against free radicals. These compounds are associated with reduced risk of diseases, including certain cancers and heart disease.

Digestive Health: The dietary fiber in mangoes can aid in digestive health by promoting regular bowel movements and helping to prevent constipation. Additionally, mangoes contain enzymes that can aid in the breakdown and digestion of proteins.

Boosts Immune System: The high levels of vitamin C and vitamin A in mangoes support the immune system by maintaining the health of the skin and mucous membranes, which act as a barrier to harmful pathogens.

Eye Health: Mangoes are a good source of beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This nutrient is essential for good vision and eye health, and it may also reduce the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts.

Improves Heart Health: Mangoes contain nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and the antioxidant mangiferin, which may help lower blood pressure and support healthy heart function.

Hydration: Given that shakes and smoothies are liquid-based, incorporating mangoes into these drinks can contribute to hydration, which is crucial for overall health, especially in hot weather or after exercise.

Weight Management: While mangoes are naturally sweet, shakes and smoothies made with mango and other healthy ingredients like yogurt or leafy greens can be a satisfying and nutrient-dense choice that helps manage hunger and support weight management goals.

USES OF MANGOES IN KITCHEN

1. Refreshing Breakfast

Start your day with a nutritious mango smoothie or shake. Combine mango with ingredients like yogurt, oatmeal, or chia seeds for a filling and energizing breakfast.

For a healthier dessert option, a mango shake or smoothie can satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or coconut milk to a mango shake for a tropical treat.

4. Workout Recovery

Mango smoothies are great for post-workout recovery. Their natural sugars help replenish energy, while adding a source of protein, such as Greek yogurt or a scoop of protein powder, supports muscle repair.

5. Meal Replacement

For those on-the-go days, a well-prepared mango smoothie can serve as a meal replacement. Ensure it has a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fats by adding ingredients like avocado, leafy greens, and seeds.

6. Culinary Ingredient

Mango shakes or smoothie mixtures can be used as a base for other culinary creations, such as popsicles, mango smoothie bowls topped with fruits and nuts, or even as a component in cakes or muffins for moisture and flavor.

7. Cocktails and Mocktails

Mango smoothies can be transformed into delightful cocktails or mocktails with the addition of appropriate spirits for an adult version, or kept alcohol-free for a refreshing family-friendly beverage.

8. Ice Cream and Sorbet

Blend mango smoothies or shakes into a more concentrated form and freeze them to create homemade mango ice cream or sorbet.

9. Salad Dressings

A mango smoothie can be thickened and used as a base for an exotic salad dressing, adding a sweet and tangy flavor to green salads.
