As a result of strong growth in the Americas region, Hyatt today announced new senior leadership appointments in the Americas region and subregional structure designed to further support Hyatt’s continued focus on growth, operational excellence and performance optimization within its largest region. With this new organizational structure, Hyatt’s Americas region is now comprised of two subregions: U.S. & Canada and Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC), led by two newly appointed subregional presidents, respectively: Susan Santiago and Gabriel Felip who both report to Pete Sears, Group President, Americas, effective January 2024.

In her new role as President, U.S. & Canada, Santiago is responsible for the growth and performance optimization of Hyatt’s owned and managed portfolio. She is in her 32nd year with Hyatt and has held numerous positions leading operational performance, most recently as Senior Vice President of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Division and Miraval brand.

As President, Latin America & Caribbean, Felip leads operational performance for all managed and owned Hyatt hotels in the region across all brands, including Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection. Felip is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of hospitality and tourism experience and previously served as Hyatt’s Group President of Inclusive Collection Global Operations.

Gardner leads a cross-functional LAC Commercial Services team that provides a specialized commercial strategy for the LAC market and further develops strong brand stories that embrace Hyatt’s culture and key differentiators for Hyatt’s full LAC portfolio, including the Inclusive Collection. Mahajan is known to be a dynamic hospitality professional. She began her professional journey in 2014 as a Management Trainee with IHCL and moved into the role of Learning & Development and later worked for various hospitality brands like Taj, Radisson and Lemon Tree in different capacities.

In her new role, she will be responsible for planning and executing efficient training procedures, identifying and monitoring training needs, cultivating talent, inspiring teams, and enhancing operational efficiency.

On the educational front, she completed graduation in Hotel Management from Banarasidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in 2014. Currently, she is pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Training and Development.

Lalit comes with a wealth of experience, having served as an Executive Chef in his previous roles. His career journey has been marked by valuable learning experiences, particularly during his time with JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. Lalit began his career at Rodas, Powai where he learned the nuances of guest interactions and attention to detail. He then moved to Renaissance Mumbai before joining The Lalit Mumbai. His international experience includes a stint in Dubai, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned chefs from Germany and Italy. Lalit has also worked with Michelin-starred chefs from around the world and contributed to the culinary landscape at Fairfield by Marriott in Lucknow and Orchid Mumbai, among others.

Originally hailing from Lucknow, Lalit holds a BSc in Tourism and Hospitality from Mumbai University.
